At #IDC2025, the Research & Design Challenge invited participants to reflect on the theme of Hope — through the eyes and ideas of children.
Congratulations to this year’s winning team, whose design most compellingly translated children’s ideas into a meaningful and imaginative prototype!
#IDC2025 Work-in-Progress Session 2 was a vibrant round of lightning talks and poster conversations. Researchers shared emerging ideas from co-designing inclusive AI literacy tools and playful robotics for healing, to building babyGPTs and exploring AI in classrooms.
#IDC2025 Paper sessions 3.1: Online, 3.2: Children interacting with tech and 3.3: Stereotypes, Generational and Fundamentals included a total of 12 papers. Take a look!
#IDC2025 featured two powerful panels! One brought industry leaders into dialogue on how emerging technologies—and strategic collaborations—are shaping the future of children's tech, the other explored how partnerships like RITEC are shaping responsible digital play.
Group 1 of the #IDC2025 Work-in-Progress sessions included both lightning talks and poster discussions. From therapy apps to AI chatbots and playful design methods, the range of ideas was inspiring! Congrats to both the Best WiP and Honorable Mention awardees!
In her #IDC2025 keynote, Janet C. Read invited us to reimagine hope-filled digital childhoods. Drawing on decades of global research in Child-Computer Interaction, her keynote challenged us to discover, dismantle, and design with care, creativity, and ethics.
