Abstract artwork combining oil pastels and watercolour. The background is watercolour, grey and blue grey deep, with texture added via oil pastels of various browns and white.
Mixed the oil pastels with watercolours today. First I’ve gotten either out in way too long.
Not sure what to call this one.
Also, still struggle to accurately photograph (with my iPhone) so the colours are more representative but here we are.

The dream 😩
“That’s all anybody can do right now. Live. Hold out. Survive. I don’t know whether good times are coming back again. But I know that won’t matter if we don’t survive these times.”
― Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Sower
There was a time when I had no idea who Clavicular was or any “-maxxing” whatevers. I was happier then.
If you have federal student debt, you may have recently received an email from the Department of Education telling student debtors who are in the SAVE forbearance to switch plans.
We want to encourage you to not rush this next step.
Take a deep breath. You have until September.

The whole thread is great, but as an SLT working largely with post-stroke aphasia, this point seems particularly incredible (in a good way!).
I'm delighted to share that the Progressive Aphasia Communication Toolkit (PACT) is out now: alz-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
This work was made possible by the 95 clinicians, researchers, people living with PPA, and partners who dedicated their time, wisdom, and resources.
Book cover of 'When Words Betray Us' by Sheila E. Blumstein featuring abstract colorful profiles symbolizing language and brain function.
The informal style of this book makes it accessible to anyone with an interest in the complexity and beauty of language and who wants to understand how it is put together, how it comes apart, and how language maps on to the brain.

Shrinking is incredible. Harrison Ford is a revelation in it. And there’s lots to take into my own SLT practice. 😊
Stroke/neurorehab SLT here.
Enjoy: building relationships and supporting families during difficult times, and seeing progress whenever it happens.
Ditch: dysphagia. I don’t hate it! But in the hospital setting it’s so difficult to make it person-centred. It’s usually frustrating for all involved.
Original seascape oil painting by Tisha Mark, "Wavering" oil on Ampersand Gessobord, 8"x8" (2026). This loosely painted seascape painting is monochromatic (black & white). It has a textured sky over a dark, wild sea. The sea on the right is meeting a rocky shore on the left. There is much texture throughout the painting.
Continuing to work with Payne's gray and titanium white this week. Using value and texture to express how I'm feeling about a particular moment.

The Trump administration is trying to illegally transfer the student loan portfolio to Treasury.
There are several problems with this — legally and administratively.
So far, Senator Warren is leading the charge on pushing back. Other Dems must follow.

One of the most exhausting aspects of the 21st century is the need to be constantly checking that every single piece of previously benign and useful technology that you use hasn't started eating you alive.
Not great, Bob.
Why do so many of our guys get injured in training 😩
Fuuuuuuuuuuu
I missed the injury to Celio, is it expected to be long term?
Everything on Bluesky is 100% public and has been from day one, due to the nature of its design. Please use Signal for communications you need to keep private.
And clearly changed the course of the game as we’ve given up 2 goals in the 10min he’s been off.
Seemed really soft. On the touchline at half, no really advantage…a foul surely but a yellow? Not for me.

It’s Swallowing Awareness Day today. As every year I will be posting what I’m eating & reflecting on people who have difficulties eating, drinking & swallowing. #Dysphagia #SwallowAware2026
Maaaaaaan this guy should be shown the door forever.
Also absolutely wild to go after Penso who for my money is a top, top, world class referee (as I’m sure many would agree, what with her handling the women’s world cup final and all).
Cruelty is the point.
It was the blood tests, CT and MRI scans, etc - part of the standard of care billed to insurance, which people have to pay up to a certain amount - that became too much for them to afford.
Not to mention shopping for insurance basically requires a forensic accountant to get the best “deal.”
