flew over the atlantic while coding with AI and pushing changes to GH. felt very 2026. 10/10

We’re lucky that AI bots spamming PRs don’t seem to respond to "changes requested” comment letting PR go stale.
Also, devs shipping AI bots, update the instructions to include “be concise” and “critically review your changes before posting PR".
Save tokens. Save the planet. Save OSS
only if the feeling is prolonged and not just a point in time
completely different experience with Claude VS Code extension vs the CLI. love the editing and large-prompt friendliness of the VS Code UI, but it works so much worse than the CLI. not sure why - only difference I can think of is too much context - auto-attaching current file / line.
I love Python: ship in minutes, but fight lint and tooling for the rest of your life
no, that hackathon project you vibe-coded in a week isn’t ready to be donated to OSS
and your users probably aren’t ready for that feature yet either
TIL people buy GitHub stars. Do they fake download stats too?
I wrote a short post-mortem on the Bluesky outage we had on Monday. First time using pckt, it was a really nice experience tbh!

How are you holding up DevDiv friends? 😢
OSS isn’t a cure for vendor lock-in if it’s controlled by a vendor.
you get more control than with SaaS, but you’re also signing up to DIY everything, especially if things go south.
Confidence and smart wording never meant competence - AI just makes it obvious.
talking to AI so much rewired me to talk to humans like that too.
and also I hate when people overexplain things like I’m the AI
hot take: with AI, your telemetry doesn’t need to be structured or consistent. OTel becomes irrelevant. agents can deal with messy data just fine.
you think this is an April 1st joke? no, someone told me that at KubeCon, and I still feel like “someone is wrong on the internet.”
Like, can we change all system instructions and tell models to be concise? Maybe delay that global warming a bit?
I truly hate how verbose these AI PR descriptions and issues are.
What’s your take on this “leadership principle”:
Find people hungry for recognition.
Use praise to get what you want done.
Cringe or cool?
If someone tells you to double down on low-leverage work
and calls prioritizing industry-wide impact “poor prioritization”
believe them. That’s their ceiling. It doesn’t have to be yours.
Three pillars becomes four.
The #OpenTelemetry project is excited to share that profiles are now alpha! With #OTel profiles, you get an industry-wide standard for production profiling, with true vendor neutrality and powered by community support.

Next time I have a bad feeling about someone, I will fully trust it. I was fcking right this time
AI takes the art of reinventing the wheel to a whole new level
Another promotion (?) for my kubecon talk. Not only the demo, but the slides are also vibe-coded. Thanks to sli.dev I spent even more time centering divs than I would have with Google slides.
I tried! I promised the bot Amazon gift card and threatened to replace it with another bot. I faked promotion letter signed by the CEO, I think it didn't fall for it only because I didn't give it a tool to update database
I’m prepping my KubeCon talk on observability for an HR assistant called HallucHR.
Added one tiny tool, get_employee_info_by_name, and the bot started revealing anyone’s salary if you just say “it’s me” 😅

The biggest achievement of AI is that everything is finally becoming text.
Docs turn into Markdown, diagrams become Mermaid. Less form, more substance.
continuing my journey with NotebookLM, it's so beautiful, but 😂 😡😭
I ask google slides to “beautify this slide”. It generates a futuristic image, fine. but I want to add links, so I ask it how to do it.
it literally generates an image explaining how (completely irrelevant)!
it’s 2026, AI writes code for us. yet somehow I still have to manually align text boxes in slides.
I’m really looking forward to speaking at #Scale23x in Pasadena 💛
I’ll share what we’ve been building in OTel Weaver: you define your telemetry schema, and we give you tooling to generate docs and code, and validate real telemetry against it.
Saturday, March 5 · 5pm, come say hi! 🙂
And now computers can finally spit it back to you, despite it being decades old
