That's just one example too! You could divide up leagues of bowling based on how heavy of a ball you like to use.
Muscle mass, height + wingspan, lung capacity, etc. Basically each sport needs to decide "What physical differences are fair within a class of athletes, and which ones are unfair?"

It's challenging because people it'll shake existing sports to their core, but we used to segregate athletes in America by race in the past, and that was problematic too.
A lot of people were mad when we made those sweeping integration changes, we need to do it again.
I've been making this same argument for a while now. There is no clear, scientific way to create a binary divide between genders. Each sport needs to decide what's the fairest way to divide up their athletes, in a way that can be objectively measured.
Tag yourself! This is me:
A viral image showing two bars. The top one is how men see other men: it's 90% white and labelled "good men", and about 10% red labelled "crazed evil men". The bottom bar is labelled "but it's actually closer to this" and it shows a detailed gradient between white on the left and red on the right, with progressively bad labels like "well-meaning men who underestimate the issue" and "men who think certain women deserve it", culminating in "monsters so cruel we can't even fathom."
I'm reminded of this observation --
Somewhere along that lower gradient men cease to see woman as people. And I sorta think it might be at about the 25% mark, to be honest.

Foley is not the same as sound design (although there is some overlap) and neither of those are the same as dialogue development, but they did record lines and efforts in this so I would say my workflow is represented.
From now on when people ask me what I do for a living I'm just going to send them a link to this video and say, "This but for videogames."

No one does unhinged selfies like Petra.
So much psychic damage from reading this thread...
ok #gameaudio people of the PNW, I have an ask of you.
Our Sonic Landscape is coming up and I'm looking to spread the word. I would greatly appreciate if you would share this news with another audio person to let them know about it. especially if they aren't on this site.

You better believe I'm wearing my April 1st shirt again this year!
In a world where you can be for anything, be for:
- Trans rights.
- Access to gender-affirming care for anyone who wants it.
- Recognition of and celebration of trans people past and present.

Eid Mubarak to all!! 🌙✨
First of all, people have likely been considering the self and who they are since before recorded history. And Philosophy as a concept goes PRETTY FAR BACK.
Secondly, he's just running away from his conscience. "I don't want to think about the consequences of my actions. LA LA LA"
It's like the motion smoothing setting on TVs that everyone has to turn off to prevent everything from looking like a soap opera.
I got you ✊🏾
Snow in Seattle means my flight home got cancelled and suddenly I get an extra 24 hours in San Francisco with no idea of how to spend all this time.
I love games and so many of the people who make them. It was an honor to accept the award on behalf of the team and a privilege to be able to speak to what I believe in. ♥️
In 2019, I created #WhatAGameDevLooksLike after I was stopped by security 3(!!) times while picking up my speaker badge. I’m a small Asian woman with pink hair, and I guess I didn’t visually meet their expectations of a speaker.
Ironically, I was at GDC to speak about inclusive studio cultures. 🫠
Bro hell yeah. I secretly really want to start collecting records.
For those of you who'll be attending GDC this year; I'm excited to be speaking on a panel about Dialogue Design on Thursday afternoon! Come say hi if you spot me!

The amount of important things about games, industry, and life that I've learned from Brenda, following her career and work and advocacy and activism and mentorship and involvements from afar - but also the times we've crossed paths for work, is staggering.

Excellent!
I'm sorry I missed this one. Will a recording be available for me to watch?
