Hell, arguably? They never fully went away. Sure, the CULTURE of Arcades might've started to die down with the increased use of home consoles, but arcades still existed. Especially as chains like Dave & Busters, Chuck E. Cheese's, and later Round 1 came into prominence.

It's shocking how much Arcades are ignored when it comes to wider video game discussion, despite them being EVERYWHERE

Like even longtime games journalist guys are like this, like I know y’all lived through the arcade era and went to arcades, maybe the Neo Geo MVS was too “for the poors” for you, persons who grew up with a home computer in the 90s.

Last time I made a comment like this, some kid tried to school me about how actually it is just a rich kid console and their source is some 20 year old kid with a YouTube channel who only talks about Nintendo otherwise.

It is really funny listening to any podcast or read any articles about the Neo Geo and it’s like the whitest suburban guys talking about how it is the rich person console for rich people and none of them will ever make mention of an arcade at all.
