Typical Murata weirdness, and probably the strongest conceptually (tho I think I prefer her others in execution)
It has it all, though: radical asexuality, mpreg, horrific anti-human future, sci-fi, the works. Worth the read.

Cried like three times this really is my favorite movie man
34. Whisper of the Heart (1995)
They put me in a humid box lifting heavy objects for 8 hours I'm dying
There was actually a kinda decent existential plot and the way Circus Baby is written is actually really fun in a slasher villain kinda way. Definitely a "We aren't writing another so wrap all this shit up now" kinda story tho lol
33. Five Nights at Freddy's: The Fourth Closet by Kira Breed-Wrisley and Scott Cawthon
Corny as it sounds the only part that had me really invested was when the classic four pulled up in the final act and beat the fuck outta the titular Twisted Ones. Freddy Fazbear takes out like 30 Balloon Boys after aura farming on the warmup. Otherwise it's just eh.
32. Five Nights at Freddy's: The Twisted Ones by Kira Breed-Wrisley and Scott Cawthon
Needed some schlock to listen to at work cuz all the other books I'm interested in at the moment are "actually read" types. Decent enough YA novel to trick kids into reading, I wouldn't call it bad.

29. Project Hail Mary (2026)
Also once you finish it you realize the cover is actually perfect.
Super weird book, actually made me laugh out loud at times but more often than not had me sitting with a lump in my throat and a knot in my stomach. Made me think a lot about how male sexuality affects women and the nature of relationships. Very glad I finally got around to it.
