i also did my first session as a DM with my very close friends, i highly recommend you do this if you can, it’s so much easier when you know your players already and have that mutual trust, you dont have to worry about “impressing” them if you get what i mean

i have maybe 10 sessions to my name as a DM but some important things i’ve learned is that theres nothing wrong with doing a one shot first with a premade module, it really takes a lot of the burden off your shoulders with creating the world. and simple is ok too! its fine if its just one town, etc
