The groups have met once or twice during the years the work has been going on, and in between managed communication via e-mail. This work has now led to a published work, where a standard instrument for autonomous status is presented [12].

For many years, all spinal cord injured persons have been examined in a uniform manner according to an internationally developed standard instrument, where the level of damage and degree of damage are classified based on motor and sensory residual function [10].

The prognosis for an incomplete injury is quite different from that of a complete injury, as the incomplete injury improves neurologically for a long time after the injury [9].
