The “That's On Me, I Set the Bar Too Low” meme, but edited to reference Brassica oleracea. Text as follows: Jake: I'm an expert on vegetables Jess: Oh yeah? Name ten vegetables Jake: Brassica oleracea Jess: That's on me, I set the bar too low.
This isn’t actually a thread of different posts. It’s all just different cultivars of a single post

Level up! Just completed the Teacher's college at UF/IFAS CALS. Had a lot of fun and insightful discussions just ahead of teaching a large class in Spring 2026.
Early birthday gift that arrived on Diwali. Very thoughtful and I love it!

Fig. 4. Protein abundance immunoblots for 7 days postinoculation (dpi) samples of soybean cyst nematode (SCN)-infested root zones or similar areas from noninfested samples from same experiment as in Figure 3. The affinity-purified polyclonal antibodies raised against α-SNAPRhg1HC C-terminus peptide cross-react with the α-SNAPRhg1LC protein but not the Wm82 α-SNAPRhg1WT, whereas antibodies against α-SNAPRhg1LC C-terminus peptide are specific for the α-SNAPRhg1LC protein. Experiments used pooled samples of three roots each, separately for Set 1 and Set 2 seedlings. Similarity of total protein loading confirmed by Ponceau staining (Supplementary Fig. S4). Noncropped images for all blots shown are presented in Supplementary Figure S5.

Big news! We are recruiting a postdoc to work on tomatillo evolution: jobs.colorado.edu/jobs/JobDeta.... The clade containing tomatillos and its allies (ca 300 spp) has evolved lantern fruits at least 25 times - we want to know why! Join us @rociodeanna.bsky.social & @caschenck-bio.bsky.social
Apparently it's Huernia aka the lifesaver cactus plant. I have been wanting it for a while. It also has rotten meat scent for the flies. Yes. I burn incense everyday in my office. So hopefully it looks pretty and doesn't smell so bad. 🤣
Welcome gift - a plant? OMG YES!
Thank you Dr. Andrea Lucky for the first plant in my new office.
I am looking for a PhD student in #molecularbiology #biochemistry #bioinformatics to work with #plants and #nematodes

My adviser organized a surprise farewell and sent me away with 5 UW Madison gifts for the 5 years I spent with him. The weather cooperated for a Terrace hangout. So long. Farewell.

The impact of nematode inoculation on classical plant performance indicators. A, The effect of nematode inoculation on dry shoot biomass, dry root biomass, and root surface area at 26 days postinoculation (DPI) for each potato cyst nematode (PCN) inoculation density. The asterisks indicate significant differences (Wilcoxon rank-sum test) of the inoculated plants compared with the uninoculated control (0 eggs per gram of soil) (ns = P > 0.05, * = P < 0.05, ** = P < 0.01, and *** = P < 0.001). B, Cleaned and dried root systems of five representative plants for each inoculation density.
Robbert van Himbeeck et al. investigated whether chlorophyll fluorescence could be suitable as a rapid, nondestructive method for early potato cyst nematode detection. 🥔 Learn more: doi.org/10.1094/PHYT... @jaapjanwillig.bsky.social
