Making it to 95 is pretty incredible, but under these circumstances, it’s hard to find peace with it. Anyway, here’s to Gene, Betsy, and their dog. May their families find the answers they need, and may their two surviving dogs find a good home.

Sadly, I guess there will be no more mistaken Gene Hackman sightings. He, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and one of their three dogs mysteriously passed away here in Santa Fe.

I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen some old-timer walking around and thought, “IS IT FINALLY GENE?”

I’ve wanted to spot Gene Hackman in town ever since we moved to Santa Fe. The French Connection. The Royal Tenebaums. Unforgiven. SUPERMAN.
