Excellent segment here (near the end) on the precarious future of campus radio. In owe my career and, in no small part, my mental health in my 20s, to my involvement in Canadian campus radio… www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...

Great piece from Kevin Newman in The Line. loved this bit: “The gallows humour, the hypervigilance, the compulsive need to know what was happening right now — these weren’t personality quirks. They were occupational adaptations, shared and therefore normalized.” www.readtheline.ca/p/kevin-newm...
Got my annual ski day in last Friday… very sunny, slushy and warm and no lift lines!
Image: A small, angry boy stands in front of his parents. They are in modern clothes, but he is dressed as a regency gentleman with top hat, breeches, cane etc. He says "No title, no estates, and less than a thousand a year! How am I ever to find a wife!" Caption: Noah's parents realise that he has been drawn into the manorsphere.
My latest books cartoon for @theguardian.com #manosphere
It is the Canadian way…

Yeah, but my deck chairs have been rearranged several times now, so I’ve got that going for me
My favourite part of Matt’s take is the assumption that the people who were there were there *didn’t* have an agenda… Like, I’m pretty sure the Civil War was agenda driven 🤣
I oppose this purely because it will soon be labelled a “hidden gem,” and we just can’t have any more of that nonsense ;)
Peter Jackson giving up movies for his real love, cleaning up World War I newsreels and Beatles concert footage, is a perfect guy-in-his-60s move. Something for us all to aspire to.
While you’re here with the rest of the sleep deprived North American fans, don’t miss out on F1 Academy. Those young women offer some fun racing
The one sailing wait… so quintessential it has a beer named after it
Please tell us your publisher actually let you put this one on the jacket 🤣
I imagine a ‘73 Chevy Caprice convertible driven by a Hunter S Thompson lookalike :)
Trumpfecta!
Won’t lie. I’m kinda disappointed that all the BC media producers diving into the record library to find songs to use with their time change stories have been missing out on this banger ;)

We’ve entered the season of dramatic late evening light here at the homestead.
If you’re liking Norsemen you might also like 1670, same approach set in the Poland of that time. Pretty funny so far
The Canadian women can leave Italy with heads held high. To take a team that dominated you all year, and pasted you 5-0 in the prelims, to OT in the final is a thing to be proud of and sends a message to the US squad that they too are mortals ;) #MilanoCortinaOlympics2026
The most Roberts Creek thing in the last few years :)
That is some George Smiley level tradecraft right there…
Now you tell me about the light necromancy! My undergrad years could have been so much more productive…
I think I’ve finally figured it out. Someone told POTUS that Gordie Howe’s play in the corners was the inspiration for “elbows up.” It would have been a pretty short journey from there to getting mad about a bridge named after Gordie. It’s the only way it tracks!
Between the Rivalry Series rout and this afternoon’s thrashing I think it’s pretty reasonable for Team Canada fans to expect resignations or firings from the Women’s program within 24 hours post Olympics, even if there’s a turnaround in the final #MilanoCortina
Here’s the rodent prediction you need @cbcstephenquinn.bsky.social !
Cleaning up and rearranging my shop space today and I came across these two gems: My BBC World Service guide for stringers circa 1996 and my @cfrcradio.bsky.social staff card from 1990 (which would have been my final year there).
