Rylance’s character in the final scene, uses his shears to kill a mobster who shot him and was about to knife him. His face is a pure mask of hate, fear, and sorrow.
Watched The Outfit again. A tight little plot unspools its heartbreaking background so naturally, revealing surprises & delights & a kickass climax along the way, all while keeping you wound up like a spring. Mark Rylance is a marvel. His final scene, full of terror & fury, is utterly Shakespearean.
During Vietnam we understood this bullshit, which is why we made anti-war signs that said, “Fighting for Peace is Like Fucking for Virginity.”
