That said, it’s nice to see something other than timidity after the NACC robodebt fiasco.

It’s just that if they believe they have the evidence charges should be brought. Skeptical me fears anything short of conviction though (which will be much harder) will only serve to rehabilitate his image and opportunities going forward, than if things had been left with the defamation findings.
It’s crazy that a lot of us grew up being told not to Wikipedia things and now it’s one of the last most trustworthy sites on the internet (caveats apply).
An orange tabby cat looking up at the camera because the 2 food bowls in front of him are very empty
Oh. Floydy has the same thoughts but less subtle about it.
I think that multiple times a week, and I never knew him offline. Quite an imprint he left on a lot of us.
Exactly that. Some services have counsellors that explicitly say they won't take any notes so there's nothing much to be subpoenaed. It can make the counselling a little more clunky at times (because some details aren't remembered) but the trust is way more important.
Damn. So sorry.
I think I am B2
From memory I did get a bill from the previous energy provider at the unit I moved into but it was addressed generically to the Unit not a person and only covered a few weeks (the period between the previous person cancelling electricity and me starting it I presumed).
Same thing happened at my place a few years ago. The electricity company said they don't always shut it off between tenants or owners anymore (not sure how true that is). They said if a bill did come through to tell them when you moved in and it would be waived etc.
It all reads like the equivalent of the "good bloke" defence.
It’s difficult to describe the amount of sheer “they wouldn’t do this sort of thing now would they” hand waving in the NACC Robodebt findings
Every meeting and piece of advice should be contemporaneously documented. If it's not then an adverse inference should be allowed to be read into it. No taking their word for it after the fact. I don't care if everything takes longer. They don't have the trust of the public to act in good faith.
If the Royal Commission showed us anything it's that everyone in that world (the public service, the ministers and staffers, the outside advisers) knows when and when not to commit something to paper. And none of it is for our (the publics) benefit.
The NACC continues to be a joke
oh perfect
I was at a dr appt a year or more ago and they couldn't find the lady at the desks name on the books. Turns out she was meant to be next door at the vet. The cat carrier she was holding should have clued everyone in A LOT quicker.
Single frame. Title “Grace under fire?” Reporter stands beside PM Albanese who is tied into a knot. Albo says; “What I meant to say is, being me can be difficult.”
Difficult.
My @smh @theage cartoon.
Yeah that "explanation" is going to make it worse. It's not remotely believable. So now not only did he say what he said, he's happy to outright lie. Credibility is unrecoverable.
The lack of even a semblance of empathy should be disqualifying for a PM. He's a weak man wanting to look strong. Couldn't have done more to trash his reputation since becoming PM & his Party has followed his lead. It's not an achievement to be better than the rabble of Opposition.
Frustrating I'm sure, but that is a lovely piece.
oh 😭
Headline in today's Guardian that reads "Reading and writing can lower dementia risk by almost 40 percent, study finds. Cognitive health in later life is 'strongly influenced' by lifelong exposure to intellectually stimulating environments, say researchers."
This is why you need to be reading books and writing your own emails, by the way. When you outsource your thinking abilities, you risk turning your brain into soup. Heavy dependence on AI has already been linked with severe cognitive decline. What you don’t use, you will lose.
Absolutely insane thing to admit out aloud about a supposedly professional police force. It's not on us to consider, let alone manage, the police's feelings for them.
So according to the NSW Police Minister, the cops lack the emotional maturity and training to be trusted near crowds, and people should be gentle with their precious little feelings. I mean it's something we all knew, it's just bracing for them to admit it.
We knew from the moment we heard it that “social cohesion” would be one of those Orwellian terms which would be used to cover all manner of state sanctioned abuse and deprivation of civic freedoms.
It fuels the very unrest it pretends to seek to quell.
Seems the beatings and berating will continue until social cohesion improves.
Disgraceful. Police just acting like common thugs with badges. All they know how to do is escalate things when their wannabe tough guy act doesn't automatically cower everyone in their presence.
