Palindromes have . . . evolved!

Theft machines. They're literally the same predictive models we've had since the 1970s; they require a database to work—and that's what they steal from, combining stolen works to obfuscate their origins.

There's no use-case for AI that doesn't steal from some artist, somewhere, written, graphic etc

Oh and if you handle your mailing list on your own, not through a third party, and allow users from the EU to join, just bear in mind you'll need to adhere to GDPR.

Good blog! My experiences are similar. I will say this for Amazon ads, though, if you're writing a series, you may find it useful to run a brief campaign when you launch the next book, as it will reach readers who've read the series, but haven't followed you or allow emails from Amazon.

Yeah, Maine is producing the buddy comedy nobody wanted: Shit and Shittier.

Shocking, that the thieves who lifted the title of an iconic, seminal cyberpunk anthology, with their obviously slopAI cover, would fill their album with slop-machine "songs" stolen from who-knows how many human artists. Shocking, I tell you.

We're less than 2 weeks from the launch of LOGOS OF CAIN, book 5 in The Cain Series, and I'm feeling it!

Handcrafted cyberpunk: written by a human for human readers. Accept no substitute. AI is mind death.

Abso-friken-lutely and especially LOTR and The Silmarillion. I get that some readers are in it for the new, but some books need several reads to communicate all that they have to offer. Plus, with great prose, it's like returning to a favorite album—you don't just listen to AiC's Dirt once!

Just a week and a day, and, well, then *another week* and *another day,* until LOGOS OF CAIN, book 5 in The Cain Series, comes out (May 1).

Episodic, near-future, cyberpunk science fiction.

Master Sergeant Benavidez was a legend, by the time I joined, his story put things into perspective: "You got blisters from rucking 15 miles? Did you get wounded 37 times?" I got it as a pvt—and then gave it as an sgt.

Hadn't heard about the mine, though: dude was Wolverine, healing factor and all.

I love how the post and lintel are, like, 800 years old and the dude who wants to keep the door shut is like, "Yeah, I'll just bang some anchor bolts in here, it's not a problem," but the taggers steer clear of the ancient brickwork and wood and stick to the much more recent door. Cool dichotomy.

True, but recognizing the systemic benefits white folks experience—even the poorest, the worst off—because of our country's racism, is important to a clear perception of one's self. As a white, cis-male, heterosexual, many aspects of life in the US are rigged in my favor, w/o my consent. Truth.

Sure, I'd love to see an expletive-ridden venting of frustration at the high-priced trash we have to deal with 😂.

And if you happen to know of any that actually work, that'd be okay, too, I guess.

Thanks! And it totally is. Just a matter of perception brought on by stress and haste? Bah! I choose to blame shadowy, malevolent forces.

It's almost as if the universe knows that I'm three weeks out from a book launch, because, every time, life decides it needs to get real damn busy.

Whatever. The cover for LOGOS OF CAIN is still badass.

See you May 1 (buy after the strike, please).

The 25-year long war continues. If Iran cools and no longer offers the distraction it was meant to cause, pulling attention from putin's cowardly attempt to conquer the valiant people of Ukraine, putin naturally orders his demented homunculus to howl about another distraction—and further weaken us.

My man, if they'd used an AIslop-machine to translate, they'd have signed an agreement for unlimited breadsticks and endless shrimp through the straight.

We need humans negotiating this thing—and we don't even have that!

Love it, but I feel for his close-protection detail. those guys must quietly shit themselves twelve times a day. think of the dry cleaning bills!

of course there's a kickstarter involved. It all comes down to five letters with scammers: M-O-N-E-Y

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

Which is not possible because the slop machines are nothing more than predictive models: they query a database (filled with stolen art) and generate a median prediction. Stealing, plain and simple.

Or plagiarism, as we used to call it in the old days 😄

So-called AI is nothing more than a glorified Xerox machine.

That's what congress should say, if ever we have a democratically elected congress again, as they send putin's ball-washer out the door.

Impeach now!

Sadly, this is becoming all too common. Many cover companies and individual artists have gone down the so-called-AI rabbit hole. I just switched cover artists (to the amazing James T. Egan) and when I was vetting, I started with 20 artists/companies and 15 turned out to be AI-first or AI-only.

Interesting. In fiction like *Gattaca," the premise was that children not conforming to new tech would be left behind; "naturals" naturally underperformed.

But here we see a case where students forbidden to use so-called AI would actually outperform their enthralled colleagues.

AI: not even once.

I don't see my email address or anything like that visible on my profile page or by clicking into any of my books in the store.

Where are would they be getting such info from ALLi? I'd like to zap it, if it is visible anywhere.

On the positive side, seeing where you needed to grow earlier on also means you'll see the good and potential for growth in other young artists' first works.

I always remember this actor in the 80s, in his first show, where in one episode you can actually see him take that next step as an artist.

Once you remove plausibility from your action-movie requirements, awesomeness begins to increase exponentially.

Also in this same vein is *Split Second,* which starts out dark and Bladerunner-y and then goes Escape from New York for the last third of the movie. So underrated.
