I actually painted the Muttaburrasaurus too. With the new long narrow snout and front teeth plus the short arms I can’t not think this dinosaur looks like a big Thescelosaurus relative. #paleoart

it hurts everybody to take away benches because unhoused people use them to sleep. but you know who it hurts most? people who don't fucking have anywhere to sleep
and bathrooms, too. "but people will use it for drugs or make it dirty" then fucking provide them with needle dispensers etc and frequent cleanings. it's this way in other places in the world. Montreal has them everywhere. make it so people aren't desperate and the "problem" with it will go away
every "misuse" of a public facility, whether it's bathrooms or benches or whatever is a sign that something has gone wrong more broadly. that we have fucking failed at providing for our people. and yes, they are OUR people. there is no shrugging this responsibility to each other off

Okay, in hindsight maybe this one pissed me off more than Hereditary!
Also the "men yelling in unsubtitled Middle Eastern language" trope at the start was Not Good.
I feel like it wasn't necessarily intentionally racist, it just draws on a load of racist (especially Islamophobic) tropes without thinking about what those are.
It's one of those ones where I started going "well this is a mediocre creature feature" and then the heart of the film was just "Dangerous thing from Middle East comes to impoverished French neighbourhood, consumes the inhabitants of colour (and one mournable white guy) and breeds rampantly."
The opening of the film goes full orientalist, there's the whole "imported danger in the banlieu" theme, and also the quick mulching of every black character (including the old woman being moved by spiders being played for laughs) vs. the long melodramatic goodbye to the one white guy who got got.
