The day included a lecture on the circular economy, a field trip to Brook Hall Estate & Gardens, and a systems thinking design workshop. It gave students a fantastic opportunity to see how organisations put sustainability into practice and experience circular economy business models.

Scientists are naturally conservative with predictions. It's unfortunately the case that climate change is generally happening much faster than those conservative predictions. All the more reason for urgency from governments.

Wastewater treatment plants are a major source of pharmaceutical pollution, study finds Municipal wastewater treatment plants are ineffective at removing Prozac (fluoxetine) and other common pharmaceuticals in wastewater, causing the drugs to be discharged into lakes, rivers and streams where they pose a risk to aquatic organisms.

Conventional municipal wastewater treatment plants are unable to effectively remove many pharmaceuticals, resulting in the release of active drug compounds into rivers and streams. doi.org/g94rq5

This is the playbook, folks.

If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.

Do not be quiet in this moment.

Many companies are using this tech already, the improvements made in the last couple of years have been unprecedented. As AI is now contributing to its own development, I don't see this momentum slowing. Combine with things like vertical farming and regen agriculture we can make positive changes.

I need to make clear that I'm not an expert. We have people in the partnership that are better qualified to answer this question. However, I think advances in AI and computer vision could help spot early signs of food going off, cut waste, and make supply chains more transparent and efficient.

Leaving the ECHR won’t “Take Back Control” – it will hand your rights to politicians The myths are seductive, the reality is very different – without the ECHR your freedoms rest on whichever Home Secretary wakes up grumpy

🧵 Farage is whipping up anger against the ECHR with false claims (see thread).

As The Bear brilliantly writes: “The ECHR [is] the foundation that protects you from your own government.”

That's why leaving the ECHR would be a Really Bad Idea.

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt.

This is simply false.

- UN: solar ~8x cleaner than gas, ~19x than coal per kWh
- panels repay CO2 in 4 months; save 57x over life
