Although there is peril, more and more I think what is really needed is a new Constitution that looks to more modern documents in other democracies.

The big problem is how to assure the process isn't highjacked by the same folks who are establishing the current minority rule nightmare.

It's early & some is implied. Dobbs overturned Roe v Wade by Court 1) throwing out years of rulings about privacy and 2) the Court inventing a new "history and tradition" test. That test holds that if the government didn't have a power in the Founding era, the government does not have the power.

Thank you! Please do not renew FISA for this regime.

My own bet has been on stagflation like the 70s economy for a lot of the same reasons. Republicans don't believe in Keynesian economics but it still believes in them.

Probably true of DC. I've seen some reporting that there are quite a few units in places like San Francisco and New York.

Any thoughts about what policies might open up housing units that are owned but vacant most of the time? Problem in a lot of cities but VRBO has also brought it to coastal OR.

Trump’s DoorDash Grandma isn’t a plant — the truth is much darker Sharon Simmons made $22,000 last year — her boss made $313 million

DoorDash Grandma isn't a paid plant. (For that, you need to be paid!) Instead, her story is far worse.

She's a depressing example of how MAGA cultists have internalized the lies that justify their own oppression.

An analysis.

Thank you!

My old neighborhood! Technically Highland Park, since we lived on the Seattle side of Roxbury.

Thank you for this. But I think you all are fooling yourselves if you think patients aren't aware of it. And, hey, if that gets you through your (incredibly long) shift -- good.

We don't blame *you* for it and we don't know how to help.

Finished Season 2 of The Pitt. I told my husband if I die before he does that I want him to tell everyone I was felled by hyper-narcolepsy.

Early warning indicator hidden within the Gulf Stream could signal the collapse of key Atlantic currents, study finds Shifts in the Gulf Stream could help researchers predict the human-driven failure of a huge system of ocean currents known as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation.

We're all going to miss the AMOC when it's gone. Although most people think that will happen after rises in sea levels make a lot of port cities uninhabitable. Still some researchers think it could be sooner than we think.

I hadn't heard of Kalshi and for a minute thought you were criticizing the maker of some delicious whole grain waffles I used to eat.

I *really* haven't been paying attention to prediction market but now I wish Congress would.

If you are a California voter who wants a Democratic governor, do not vote for Swalwell. It's too late for his name to come off the ballot and your top two primary includes peril.

This you?

"And how did the abuse happen twice, with the same victim, in 2021 and 2024?That was a three years apart!"

Sure sounds like blaming a victim who works in the same industry as the abuser.

Ms.Frazzled made a positive post about Swalwell for Governor. Almost immediately 3 different women reached out to caution her. Not being a political insider (and having survived workplace harassment herself) she didn't keep quiet. Another more politically connected influencer helped her.

Both Judaism and Islam require believers to ask forgiveness & make amends with the people they harmed.

Christ's sacrifice interrupted that tradition for Christians. It changed the interaction between sinner & victim. Forgiveness is expected.

People, religious or not, are not perfect.

I think Harris did the best anyone could have done with the flaming bag of shit Biden called a campaign that she was handed on !July! !!24!! We owe her a debt. Trump could have gotten an actual mandate. She gets to do what she wants.

If she hadn't invited him, he would have just mailed the speech in like Presidents did before mass media. The Speaker has to invite the President into the House. She gave him that TV audience because Democrats are too timid to break even habits when dealing with an autocrat.

That really does look like where AI got the figure. And there were so many accusing Baphomet yesterday, including in MAGA world.

(On the other hand, boy did I learn a lot I didn't know yesterday. Off to research Baal who at least I heard of as a fundie kid but the details are vague now.)

To anyone who votes in California and wants a Democratic governor:

If Swalwell was your guy, pick someone else now. He's withdrawn but it's too late to remove him from the ballot.

And if your person has very low support and that's still true on May Day you need to pick someone with more support.

Yes. He was really on a spree last night. A minute after this post it was another AI slop image of Trump Tower on the moon. He didn't stop posting until 4 am.

He's not OK and neither are most of us.

I've never believed in conspiracy theories, because I don't think 3 people can keep a secret. But those numbers are not sensible and discovery in all those suits they filed in 2020 would have given them a lot of info on vote counting process in many states.
