Hearts Alberta (@heartsalberta) How many more tears? How many more families must grieve before we decide, collectively, that this level of loss is unacceptable?

What are people supposed to do with this information?

They don’t have access to safer, regulated alternatives. Telling them the drugs are toxic isn’t new—it’s obvious. At that point, it’s not helping anyone. It’s just wasting resources.

Duane Bratt: Gerrymandering electoral map will erode Alberta democracy Thursday was a bad day for democracy, and possibly setting up an even worse day for democracy.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that the minority report was gerrymandered to benefit the UCP by significantly diluting urban voters.”

Not advertising cannabis at every street corner as we do in Alberta. Legally regulation should not mean promotion.

“Basic income has been shown to reduce health care costs, including an 8.5% reduction in hospitalizations. As Dr. Danielle Martin [the newly elected Liberal MP in today’s by-election] has so pointedly said, “If we discovered a drug that reduced hospitalizations by 8.5%, we’d put it in the water.”

Suburban expansion costs increase to $465 per person per year in Ottawa | CBC News Infill development is known to be much cheaper for cities than adding new subdivisions, and City of Ottawa staff have shared estimates for how much the municipality saves — and spends — depending on w...

It costs the City of Ottawa $465/person each year to serve new low-density homes, over & above what it receives from property taxes/fees.

On the other hand, high-density infill such as apartment buildings pays for itself plus an extra $606/person each year.

Sprawl costs, infill saves. #UrbanTruth

They’re not interested in ideas or innovation. They want cuts to social programs and targeting those for most vulnerable.

Let's make electoral boundaries boring again Years ago, I was at a political science conference where the after-dinner speaker gave a history of electoral boundary processes in Canada.

“The Premier… stated (incorrectly) that the retired judge who had chaired the commission raised the possibility of using voters, rather than residents, as the basis for drawing boundaries.

It wasn’t the Chair, but rather the two UCP appointees who suggested this”

Smith says that she wants to redraw the maps to ensure that rural gets the representation it deserves because rural constituencies are complex & too big.

This compares the majority report & the minority report.

It's the cities that get carved up, rural barely moves.

I wish they regulated substances to people at risk, but they did not. People brought what they bought on the unregulated market. No consumption site dispenses.

Why Canada needs public grocery stores
Why Canada needs public grocery stores YouTube video by The Breach

Something that CBC did not cover much today in their article on public grocery stores (about them having "a moment"):

"They already exist [elsewhere], and they work."

As well as other solutions like public distributors: youtu.be/RPuEhQl8Cxo?... #CDNpoli #CBC #CDNmedia

Inclusion of people with disabilities is what I studied, employment inclusion is the field I worked in, educational
inclusion is what I taught for 20 years at MacEwanU.

This, premier Smith, is not how it works. Inclusion is not earned or granted, it’s a right!
You failed!

"B" called in to ask how the premier holds herself accountable...

Smith didn't answer, but she did say the quiet part out loud.

She believes there are a significant number of people on AISH who aren't disabled enough to actually be getting full support.

The UCP is taking almost 200 million from people with disabilities by clawing back CDB. They will take another 200 million by switching to ADAP. Robbing the poorest!

Smith on disability today...

"Whether a person is disabled does not create a limitation in what they can do and whether they can work"

And...

"For those who are severely handicapped, I think there's such obvious indicators there"

Starting Jan 1, 2027, Feb 13 will be known as "Fossil Fuel Recognition Day" in #Alberta. No, you don't get the day off.

As part of this, kids will also learn in school about how much money oil & gas, forestry, farming, and construction bring to AB's economy.

“If the govt were looking to... gerrymander districts... this new, hastily designed process undercuts [public consultation] and puts the decisions in the hands of partisan appointees in a way that we have not seen in Canada since the 1940s.”

Today Smith revealed more of her plan for emergency healthcare...

Removing the expectation that everyone deserves access to emergency care from professional colleges if a patient is behaving badly.

So hypoglycemic & postictal patients are out of luck?

In a rare twist..

Smith had nothing but good things to say about a judge.

Although she claims that the report provided by the Electoral Boundary Commission was actually 3 reports and that's why they need to strike a balance now.

sent you letter to Danielle Smith!
In a democracy voters are supposed to pick their representatives. Governments are not supposed to choose their voters, like the UCP are attempting to do.
