As well as the 5 points originally posted in this thread, if I'm being fully honest I should also include 6, which is I'm currently recovering from a fractured jaw, and for some reason giving away a few signed copies of my books with some nice original art work makes me feel less sad and useless.
Just put it on hold through the Libby app. Looking forward to it!
Divide and conquer. That’s the game plan. It doesn’t matter how…
Shot from ground level, a round ceiling mural that echoed Metis embroidery. On a black background, we see a wild rose in tjr centre, surrounded by flowers, berries, birds and butterflies.
The mural in context - on the ceiling, surrounded by lights and blond wood ceiling tiles. It hangs above the soaring atrium of the University Commons
I was on the @ualberta.bsky.social campus today for the unveiling of this remarkable art installation by Metis painter Christi Belcourt. It’s called In My Grandmother’s Time, and it blends traditional motifs from Metis beading and embroidery with digital technology. And it’s gorgeous. #ualberta #yeg

A little white dog sits on a pale green sofa with a multi-coloured blanket beside her, scrunched into the corner of the sofa. She’s pushed the blanket there. Evidence? Her hair is charged and standing up, leaving her looking like a late stage dandelion

"Light Fossils" dinosaur light painting by artist Darren Pearson, known as Darius Twin, using a unique photography technique.
The artwork is created using long-exposure photography, where the camera shutter remains open while the artist moves handheld lights to "draw" the figures in real-time.

A robin in a nest it has made in the folds of an outdoor table umbrella
Over the weekend, one of the tables outside the tea room at Arlington Court, Devon, was cordoned off - because a robin built a cosy little nest inside the umbrella!
To give them some peace and avoid disturbance, we've temporarily closed off the area until they choose to move on.

This well-reported piece appears to have nonetheless missed what I suspect is the 'real' story behind these massive price rises: the UK veterinary sector has been targeted by US private equity firms in the past decade, and turned into yet another vehicle for extracting wealth from ordinary people.
