anyway, not necessarily a pity post, but a random train of thought

even now, i don’t think anyone comes back to look at work i’ve done, commercial or not, and i kind of just post to the void. it just hit me as i was looking at everyone’s art being shared, “wow i don’t think i ever made anyone feel like this” and i just wonder when i lost that or if i ever had it

i also find that you don’t really get hired for the projects that suit your style, so in reality it’s just better to show you can do a range of things early on. tbh, i’m not sure any of my takes on things ever stood out, and i probably wasn’t really suited for commercial work!

i think when you’re starting out, you often get the advice to draw what you love, but that only really works if you’re keeping it as a hobby. you’re not going to be your only client, so at some point you have to branch out and do things you’re less excited about.

y’know, i don’t think i’ve ever made art that resonated with people and i think it’s why i could never get a long term career in illustration. it makes me wonder, could i even do that sort of thing? i dunno if i even have the capacity to evoke that sort of feeling!

ok i like it so far! the kids are cute and the story’s really interesting! i think it’s being subbed as a weekly batch which kinda helps with the pacing instead of watching it daily

i wish i had talent to offer to apply at @remedygames.com, they’re clearly a team with a lot of love for not only the work that they craft but for the audience they’re crafting for. i’m glad this found me at the right time when i needed it.

anyway, i just felt like wandering around and shooting enemies to try and release some stress but for some reason by the credit roll i was crying lol. in a strange way, it felt like finally being heard. (also i think the songs got me, so good job on that one)

my day job is like that, it’s draining and demanding and they certainly don’t give a shit about how hard the art process actually is. the burnout’s taken a toll on me both mentally and physically and it’s a lot like living in a fog

this is silly, but there’s something about a haunted house of monstrosities of mangled ideas and the exploitation of artists and creatives by these two scientists who couldn’t give a shit about the artisic process that as a failed artist, it BROKE me

i had put off The Lake House dlc for Alan Wake 2 because i’ve honestly just been having a really hard time both at home and work lately and it’s been hard to find a moment. anyway i just started it today and finished and man, that was so satisfying
