yeah, stockwell is wonderful. I saw BSG before blue velvet, so when I got to that scene I was agog. the cast in general is so good, that Olmos and McDonnell are dynamite goes without saying and their chemistry is a delight, Sackhoff, Douglas, and Moore are a lot of fun, Callis plays a good dickhead

first three seasons were great. the miniseries and 33 were it at its tightest, but the whole first season is really sharp imo. its worth watching as the like final gasp of 90s scifi, and how that style of show became less tenable in the post 9/11 tv era.

the cylons were superbly cast too. idk if anyone ever cared about the ratty PR guy, but the rest? insane that Lucy Lawless could be part of a character type, and still only be my second favourite. the priest was a good third, and six was cool, but i loved every second that Leobin was on screen.

something of an oddity for sci fi in that its pilot episode was probably its best. 33 is a like perfect distillation of the show doing its thing. no fucking around or characters not quite finding their feet, just everyone immediately getting the assignment and running with it.

despite the fact it clunked to a deeply unsatisfying conclusion, battlestar galactica really was something special when it was greased up and moving.
