I just need to keep some villains as villains regardless of their reasons and whether or not someone might think they're justified or not.
If anything, being able to walk the tightrope of keeping a villain almost understandable yet still threatening will pay off more than one that just becomes good.

Someone can believe they're good and do bad things, someone can know they're doing bad things but feel there's no other option, and some people just don't face consequences believing that their actions aren't really THAT problematic.

I obviously can't keep doing that though as I'll just run out of villains. I do believe that all characters are just people who are looking at the world from different perspectives, but I need to make sure that like reality, there are some people that just push themselves over the edge.

I'm larning to dial back my villain stories a bit. I keep pushing into their past and creating reasons for every action, but that keeps leading me to humanizing them to the extent that I need to question why they're evil and think of making them change who they are later on.

This time I've been able to keep up the pace since my workflow is much smoother and my code is much much better.

I've technically been doing game dev for a few years, I've just never released anything.
I would keep restarting my projects or shift to a new idea.
But each time I restarted I would get better results. Better art, better animations, better audio, better code, etc.

The whole assumption that there's only ONE true way to make games is stupid. There will always be genres that just dont fit your taste, but that doesnt mean they're inherently bad or dated.
