But the interesting question is why. It’s not because women weren’t as good as men, but countries could only send two shooters and they _chose_ to send men. They didn’t invest in training or developing women athletes. Having a second event unlocked that money and training.

The last skeet shooting competition that was combined had 7 out of 60 women competitors and while a woman won, no other woman placed higher than 25th and two of them placed in 58th and 59th place above only a male competitor that didn’t finish. The split allowed many more women to compete and medal.

Admirable restraint in headline writing there. I would not have been able to resist.

I did not want a computer programming career after spending 20 years working at tech companies writing code.

Maybe the should write up their complaints with the pope and nail them to a church door.

I think a large portion of bluesky is “democratic party disapprover that is voting for them anyway”

It is trivially easy to get chatgpt to admit to almost anything. It is designed to be agreeable.

It’s not like he did something like assassinating the leaders of iran. That was also a dumb idea and we as a nation allowed trump to try it and see what happens. Maybe let’s try some lower stakes dumb ideas for once.

The decision was made before, it happened after.

Packing the supreme court is step one. Imprisoning Trump and seizing his family’s wealth is step two. Amending the constitution so it can never happen again is step 3.

Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia—

AOC: Wah wah wah.

We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no.

What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over.

I think it is a dumb idea but i don’t think it is worth fighting. Let them try it. Frequently I am wrong when i think something is a dumb idea.

we can just do it legally if we wait two more years.

The president can definitely veto it and they have done it before.

Yeah fighting over maps in the courts is a different thing entirely. That is just part of the process.

They are going to rally around someone dumber, weirder and more offputting and threatening than trump was after this. It is sort of interesting in a rats fleeing a ship sense but not in a “seeing the light” reformation sense.

This might not actually be necessary if the blue wave in november is big enough— we could just have states call a constitutional convention.

So the time line is — get the supermajority in the house and and a majority in the senate, take the white house, wipe out the filibuster, pack the supreme court, add enough new senators to get a super majority there, rewrite the constitution, unify dc back to one state and reset the supreme court

My first thought was “this is stupid” my second thought was “this is obviously the correct thing to do”. We can undo it after we fix the constitution.

Should be one of the first things the house passes. And puerto rican, if they want it.

I would not be _at all_ surprised if there were some FBI agents and informants out there inciting people on J6 to be honest. They were also out at BLM protests doing it. It is a thing that they do.

Saying you are gonna target someone in a +20 Trump district is a toothless threat. If DeSantis turns it into a +5 district to steal a dem seat elsewhere, it’s actually dangerous for the GOP, though.

When gerrymandering, they take gop voters out of safe republican districts and move them to marginal blue districts. It they don’t gerrymander those reps will definitely win. If they do, dems have a shot and now they have to defend them. It’s a bad idea to try it on the wrong side of a blue wave.

I am generally in favor of horse trading and moderation in normal times but you need a sane opposition party. Right now I am in pure “salt the earth” mode. The republican party needs to go the way of the whigs. It is not saveable, it needs to be destroyed as an institution.
