We should invest in PSE not to poach foreign researchers but to support the system broadly and ensure that there are jobs for the people who've spent years in PhD programs to be able to do them. And to ensure quality teaching and services for students.

And those with stable jobs are having their teaching loads increased becasue there are fewer profs, which means they cannot do their vital research, and cannot dedicate as much attention to individual students and teaching quality.

I appreciate the advocacy for unis, but framing it as an opportunity to poach foreign researchers marginalizes all the Canadian scholars who are losing, and can't find, academic jobs because of these events. First and foremost, there are no jobs for those of us working here already.

Our universities are crumbling due to underfunding - programs are closing, admin and faculty are being laid off and contracts are not being renewed. Canadian trained scholars are being betrayed. These people will come to a husk of a PSE system while local scholars are forced out.

Carney's budget throws Canadian scholars under the bus by aiming to recruit non-Canada scholars and researchers when there are thousands in Canada who can't land a job because our unis are crumbling coz of small operational funding increases. We need core funding, not special initiatives.

The CPC must learn that Canadians aren't returning to the LPC because we are afraid of Trump, but are voting against PP because he uses terms like 'woke' and 'women's bio clock' that only appeal to Maple MAGA, his voter base. CPC must clean their house of rhetoric Canadians won't stand for.

Canada has its own issues with under and unemployed scholars and researchers. We should first properly fund the universities that are currently reducing faculty and closing programs due to gov cuts and historic underfunding before we start poaching others from south.

This week alone, two students informed me they came out to their families and were met with rejection and pain. I came out over 20 years ago, terrified, and thankfully, the response was love. I'm so sad for them. And sad that we are still making queer people as scared as I was those 20 years ago.

Stop Bill 12

Nova Scotia has proposed legislation increasing political interference in universities.

Political interference in education isn’t just an American phenomenon. It’s alive and well in Canada too.

Politicians should not dictate the priorities of universities.

I saw posts about polling showing how the CPCs have lost their massive lead.
