Crisis Capitalism, oil-soaked Carney using crisis to undermine our ability to succeed. Propping up oil and gas industries and cutting taxes on the rich. No drones, Gripens, KSS-III. Could have won on green credentials, but gutted carbon tax etc ever since. Haven't a clue why anyone believes him

Carney fans, rationalize away!

Arithmetic, Population and Energy - FULL LENGTH YouTube video by kip399

Here's a link to Arithmetic, Population, and Energy from 2000 or 2004 yet still relevant today. Dr Albert A Bartlett. It's an entertaining 1h 14min and goes by fast 🎉

Annual growth in World Electricity Production 2013 to 2023 (Ember)

Ember had a better graph in 2024. Same idea. Note that 7% has a doubling rate of about 10 years.

Say it with me.

Government services are not businesses.
Governments are not businesses.
Neither should be run as a business.

If you think they should, you have the fiscal understanding of a 4 year old.

Yet cuts to gas taxes cost us $2.4 billion. Swell. Cons cut taxes then use that as an excuse to cut services. Oil-soaked Carney same playbook. Make everything crisis capitalism to gut Canada. His missed that part in his helping Canadians speech.

Townhalls are mgmt systems. Up to receiver if they do anything with it beyond vibes. JT did all those townhalls reneged on electoral reform good bad example of its utility. Lack of vision scuttles geography/urban plans. Lvl 1 Vibes vs Lvl 2 Science. Carney playing Canadians, media just laps it up 🤷

I like the sentiment but for him I don't think it'll ever happen. Bankers don't take questions they issue orders. He also was not interested in electoral reform. This is a remarkably uninterested PM in helping Canadians but only helping industries. I hope more people are catching on

The future of electricity is wind and solar, new report says. The future of electricity is wind & solar. Canada is lagging behind. With de facto political bans on renewables in the best places for solar, Alberta & Saskatchewan, catching up will be difficult even though it's technically simple & cheap #cdnpoli #abpoli #skpoli #solar www.cbc.ca/news/science...

unfortunately here we have anti science MAGA Conservatives gumming up the works. Other countries don't have as many or are not anti science. AB and SK given their puny populations across cities and towns could be 100% renewable. Wind, Solar, but also vast numbers of abandoned wells for geothermal

yes, but it wastes precious years, keeps those trapped in car brain / oil life to never reconsider what changes are needed. Instead of Dr Carney Economist doubling down on world's worst processes, could have used his education instead to increase carbon tax, taxes on rich, and pitch for Canada Green

What a colossal lack of vision. You could have done something useful like nationalized bike lanes, and raffled off 400,000 to 800,000 ebikes

It's not a sincere gesture; it's the height of cynicism, trading on folks' ignorance to score goodwill points on a pittance while increasing profits for the richest at the expense of the public purse. The man has a PhD in economics from Oxford. You think he doesn't know how this will work?

2 days ago 5 1 0 0

Isn't the lesson in all of this to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, rather than to shoot our Country in the foot by taking in less tax revenue in order to prolonge the dominance of gasoline vehicles? Why not a subsidy on electric, which helps to save ALL the money at the pump?

tax the excessive profits rather than empty the public funds used for social spending. i hate bankers.

Cool, appreciate it. But how about instead of impoverishing the public purse you tax the outsized profits of the dying oil and gas industry to build renewables, battery, job transition programs, and public transit?
