Stereotypes start shaping us from an early age, so it's never too early to start challenging them, we would say! 💡
We had a lot of fun at QUANTASTISCH, an outreach event held at @oeaw.bsky.social for over 1,000 students who explored
the fascinating world of quantum science. #QuantumScienceAustria

Are you a leading female researcher in STEM and would you like to spend 6 to 12 months at @oeaw.bsky.social?
Apply now for the Berta Karlik Fellowship!!
The call is open until 31 December 2025: www.oeaw.ac.at/foerderungen...
We're so grateful to have been part of this exciting moment. We presented our platform and shared what atom*innen is about: a network dedicated to empowering and connecting women and gender minorities in quantum science. If you have not done yet, please register and join our community 😊
W4Q is a group of female physics professors, mostly based in Europe but also in Japan, working in AMO physics, quantum many-body physics, and quantum information. They recently published a manifesto advocating for a joint effort to improve the situation of women in quantum physics.
Exciting times! 🎉🗼Last week, we had the honour of presenting the atom*innen platform at the launch of the #Women4Quantum (#W4Q) Association at @sorbonneparis1.bsky.social in Paris!
Her contributions to the field have been foundational, and her career continues to inspire physicists worldwide. We were honoured to hear her reflections on science, perseverance and the importance of building supportive communities in academia.
Back in 1987, Prof. Anne L’Huillier observed that many different overtones of light arose when she transmitted infrared laser light through a noble gas. She continued to explore this phenomenon, paving the path for subsequent breakthroughs in producing attosecond pulses.

So great to run all together! 4 teams, 16 of us 😉Thanks @atominnen.bsky.social and @iqoqi.bsky.social for organizing it!!
📽️ Francesca is featured in the social media campaign #breakthebias of Austria’s Ministry of Education, Science and Research!
👩🔬She highlights the importance of women’s perspectives in science and advocates for more women in leading positions to serve as a role model.

The survey will only take 6-10 minutes, and your responses will be used to assess what is and isn't working in terms of supporting people in quantum science! Please, help us shape a more inclusive future for everyone in quantum 🚀
Your voice matters! 📢
Diversity in Quantum and the EU Quantum Flagship have just launched the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. We highly encourage everyone who is part of the quantum community to participate: www.diviq.org/survey
Prof. Christine Silberhorn leads a research group in the field of integrated quantum optics. In the interview, she discusses the importance of women's networks within the physics community: atominnen.at/empower/inte...
Representation is key! That's why we're kicking off the 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 series. Every month, on the 11th, we'll highlight an inspiring researcher in honor of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 Feb).
First up, Christine Silberhorn from @unipaderborn.bsky.social:
Francesca Ferlaino lives & works in Innsbruck for almost 20 years now. In an interview she explains what inspires her work, how she is advocating for more women in physics and what "aussi" and "ummi" mean in Tyrol.
