We explored how systemic #genderbiases continue to shape clinical practice, workplace culture & health outcomes in medicine
@medicalwomenuk.bsky.social @collegeofsurgeons.bsky.social
Principles of change Shared values Be alert to occult patriarchy Start with inclusion
Focus on shared values slide The rising tide lifts all boats - John F Kennedy
Be alert to occult patriarchy
Patriarchy/ characteristics of system not as gender stereotype.
When we start with inclusion we design a system that meets our goals. So often we ‘retrofit’ onto a system that ends up one size fits no one. also liked the clarification around patriarchy as system not gender stereotype.
Thank you @liangrhea.bsky.social @medicalwomenuk.bsky.social @idrf.bsky.social
Having listened to @liangrhea.bsky.social very powerful talk I now realise I’ve met my heroines…so much to reflect on - for now dashing for my train home!
