“Noroi” isn’t the scariest film I’ve seen, but its creeping dread stuck with me. It’s deeply unsettling, brilliantly layered, and seriously underrated. The buildup is slow, the payoff chilling— and some scenes are genuinely triggering. Found footage fans, tread carefully, but don’t miss it.
Obsessed with “Lair of the White Worm”— its gloriously unhinged camp, Amanda Donohoe’s wicked sensuality, Hugh Grant’s smug charm, and Peter Capaldi slaying serpents with bagpipes? Pure cult brilliance. Amazing entry from Ken Russell (also of “Tommy” and “The Devils” brilliance).

I am tired of my worth as an employee being a point of political debate, & I am tired of being told by people like “Coach” Tuberville “no pain, no gain”, etc. I already put in the time & effort to get to where I was.
There is considerable overlap between these people, & yet, I am still me: hardworking, diligent, educated.
When I was still teaching, people told me that I was overqualified and, like most teachers, overworked and underpaid. Now that I am a terminated federal employee, people tell me that the mass terminations are a good thing, because us federal employees were underqualified, underworked, and overpaid.
I was also made to scrub “DEI” from course materials before being terminated… it was a mad dash, like the very existence of the agency hinged upon being able to Ctrl+F for “diversity” and decimating it before midnight. The psychological warfare against feds started well before the firings.
I was forced to scrub “DEI” from our courses about two weeks before I was terminated, as well.
I am begging congressmen (*cough* Democrats) to use the only leverage they have and make the impending shutdown worthwhile. This is a war of attrition; please take a stand and be prepared for it to get ugly— for the greater good.

Watched Argento’s “Opera” (1987) again last night—often called his last great film. That ending though… yikes. But it hits different if you see it as a bookend to “Deep Red”: from a girl torturing lizards to a woman freeing one, rejecting her mother’s sadism. A full-circle moment? Thoughts?
