I refuse to placate or put others before me anymore. Of course I love my friends and I'm willing to help where I can, but I will never again be the person I was. That person who thought there was good in everyone, they're dead.
I recently had to do this with someone who refused to respect my boundaries out of "I'm so attracted to you". It was the same shit, different package, and I don't regret it one bit. At this point I'm not trying to save friendships anymore, I'd rather be alone.
If I could go back, every single person who lied to me about who they were, who used me, then painted me as a villain when I didn't do what they wanted; as soon as I learned they were lying, I would block them. Cold no contact.
Its no wonder why I struggled. Every single aspect of my life was under attack. Plus the instability at home. I was tired, beaten down, and in constant survival mode. I made myself small or didn't push back when I should have to avoid more pain. I couldn't take anymore.
Honestly 21-26 were the worst parts of it. Being stalked and harassed by my ex friend, having 3 people try to force themselves on me or trying to pull me into relationships I didn't want, the workplace bullying and hostility at Starbucks. All of it going on at once...
Being forced to be home has resulted in me having to face the trauma I've endured the last 10 years and almost everything could have been avoided if I had just advocated for myself and didn't try to keep the peace or people please. The stalking from an exfriend and my ex are exceptions...
