I expect the feet will probably be the first point of failure.

The @greenparty.org.uk is standing in all Senedd vacancies in Wales and 89% of vacancies in the English local elections – the highest in the party’s history.
This could be big.
A deep blue sky, with a few thin, high clouds. Nice.

Letter on UK Parliament headed paper dated 16 April 2026, addressed to Energy Secretary Ed Miliband. Green MPs urge him to maintain the ban on new North Sea oil and gas licences and not approve projects like Rosebank, Jackdaw or Cambo. The letter argues new fossil fuel extraction will not lower bills or improve energy security, and says claims about protecting jobs are inaccurate. It highlights that 93% of recoverable oil and gas has already been extracted and that remaining resources would be sold internationally. The MPs warn expanding fossil fuels harms workers, billpayers and future generations, and call instead for investment in renewable energy, warmer homes, future-proof jobs, and making polluters pay. Signed by Carla Denyer, Ellie Chowns, Siân Berry, Hannah Spencer and Adrian Ramsay.
Our MPs have written to Ed Miliband urging him not to backtrack on the ban on new oil and gas.
More drilling won’t lower bills or secure our energy future. It’s time to invest in renewables, future-proof jobs, and make polluters pay.
As a big fan of a future habitable planet, this is welcome stuff.
This is for the "we have made no progress" camp

Does that make me a Blue Labour Bellend? Say it isn't so.
Merino socks underneath, then just put suitable footwear on (trainers for open canoeing for ankle flexibility; something sticky for ghylls)
A Telegraph article entitled Labour peer (Lord Glasman) tells Starmer to resign
Oh bollocks, I'm on the same side of an argument as Maurice Glasman.
Absolutely wonderful
A pair of black dry trousers. You: Sorry, what? Me: Think of the bottom half of a dry suit, with braces to keep them up. That.
Yeah, so postie just delivered these beauties.
Eye of the beholder?
Yep. You, dear reader, may see a pair of ugly black dungarees which, weirdly, seem to have socks attached to them.
Me, I see a future in which I'm leading ghyll scrambles - which I do quite a lot - whilst keeping my knickers dry.
Outstanding.

*but not through your phone's speaker if you're on public transport. That's a dick move.
If only this country would allow someone like Chris Grey to come on TV and share his wisdoms, and I mean that sincerely, with the nation. I really do believe the country would be better for it if more people were forced to think about this, and those in power to actually discuss it.

"The.. world is in a profound state of flux & crisis. Like every other country, Britain is caught up in that. Starmer, to his credit, is at least inching towards a Carney-type recalibration, although he probably lacks the vision, and certainly lacks the political capital, to do much more than that."
As a former California Insurance Commissioner put it:
"Putting any industry above the law - especially one responsible for creating many of the greenhouse gas emissions that have helped fuel climate-related destruction of homes, businesses, and whole communities - would be beyond dangerous."
They have nothing to offer to the electorate but to spend their taxes on luxury fascism
In his 2003 book 'The Tao of Coaching', Max Landsberg introduced a 2x2 grid model, the Skill Will Matrix, intended to help coaches and leaders select & deploy the best interventions.
Through that lens, I'm very much a 'low skill, high will' politics nerd, so I absolutely *devour* pieces like this.

"Farage seems to deeply dislike modern Britain – to the extent that he wants to remake it in the image of his favourite foreign autocracies."
"Keir.. ..suspended his judgement, as he does so often."
Yep, we're all living with - and sick of - the results of that tendency, across every policy area.
It’s not that these people still exist. That’s just biology. It’s that they are still being paid to shit in their own hands & start clapping.
"Despite a record number of MPs, [the Lib Dems] are utterly failing to change the terms of political debate in a way that both Reform and the Greens have been notably effective at doing."
It's a good read, this, on the state of the Lib Dems, and why Ed Davey has charted a course rightwards.
