Awesome! It’s a really powerful film. The circumstances that led to needing to be in the film suck, but I’m glad it was able to document what happened and hopefully galvanize more people to step up and push back.

And Arlington, TX, it’s in the same boat. Every council seat should be filled with a progressive voice.
We’ve talked about Fort Worth being a blue city and the 2026 Primaries prove it. And it should leave any City Council member who doesn’t want to move in a more progressive direction very concerned about holding their seat in May 2027. And yeah, the concern should be there for the Mayor too.
Whether it is recognizing Monks that most everyone thinks are awesome, advocating for civil rights orgs to be able to use space, or pushing for information on jail deaths and compassionate treatment, Alisa Simmons is there for Tarrant County.
We have to vote her into the middle seat in November
Didja know that TARRANT COUNTY has the best Tech in the whole country? If you are skeptical, join the club.
Alex Montalvo was at the County Commissioners meeting on 4/14 and decided to completely change his allowed two minutes of public comments a month to deride what had been presented.
November can’t get here soon enough. Nydia Cardenas came to Commissioners Court to speak up for more transparency, for sharing information with the public, which is the opposite where the current majority on the court is taking Tarrant County.
Change is coming!

When the Tarrant County Commissioners Court (well, three members) continuously makes choices to make OUR government less transparent, it takes the people showing up and calling them out on it. That’s what Mendi did on 4/14.
The Commissioners Court belongs to the people. Not those three boys.
Marisol Herrera and Nydia Cardenas went to the Fort Worth ISD meeting with the Board of Managers on 4/14. They wanted the board to understand how important it is to have community involvement and engagement, especially on sensitive topics like renaming Cesar Chavez Elementary School.

Fort Worth, our City Council, and members of the 817 Gather / 817 Pod community were featured in the Washington Post today. The article focused on the fight for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. 👊

Mercy Culture church is at it again, doing their “Friends and Family” “not endorsements” from the pulpit (and yeah, the Johnson amendment is toast, so they should be taxed, but until we vote in new leaders with spine, they won’t be).
It’s time to stop them from taking any more ground.
In case it didn’t translate in the clip, Patrick was very dismissive of Talarico as a candidate. His focus was on if Republicans just show up, they win, and that Cornyn and Paxton have to make sure whoever loses gets over it. And if they don’t, they hand the win to Dems.
Texas Lt Gov Dan Patrick had some things to say:
He doesn’t know how to say Taylor Rehmet’s name
“The Democrats are angry”
“This is real”
“We’ve only been in power 23 years”
“We’re gonna have a tough time holding the Texas House”
“America can’t exist without Texas being red” 🙄

In Fort Worth, 6 who work for the people and not the Fort Worth Way can transform the city. We’ve already started raising our voices together and moved the council on at least a few things. Now imagine what’s possible if we continue the pressure and in May 2027, we all rise up together.
If you are in Arlington ISD, you probably want to read this one. Yes, I followed the money. Yes, I had to dip into local races and the ISD website to find all the campaign finance reports. And Yes, Tim Dunn is involved.

I’ve heard those of a slightly different generation like to watch videos while they take in content. I watched this video and it was 😱 throughout. I’ve also added some content to it. Will folks watch it? Not sure. But I thought it was worth trying something different. 🤓
🐟 where the 🐟 are
The above is from an appearance on the 817 Pod. You can watch the full episode here: youtu.be/nzcYBwlMSDQ?...
No, we don’t have to be “moderate” to win elections. We have to know what our values are, center them, talk about them, and don’t veer from them. We can’t throw one group under the bus and expect folks in other groups to trust us. Have a true north. Stick to it.
We don’t have to tact to the middle.
A Matt Krause post prompted me to go deeper and write a sequel to The March Signal. What I found reinforces the moment we are in and what’s possible. And shows a surface level read of things isn’t enough. Let me know what you think.

I was on the 817 pod to talk about what we saw happen in the Texas and Tarrant County primaries. This clip is focused on the hope we’ve gained based on what we all saw and where it could lead us. Vibes matter. They are what cut through a lot of clutter.
Watch it and let me know how you are feeling!
They let me back on the 817 Podcast! You should check it out 😏

Hey Fort Worth / Tarrant County, this is happening today (3/8) from 3-4pm if you are looking for something to do! Mendi and I will be there.

“The next time someone tells you they are moderate, understand what they are telling you. They are willing to stand in the way of solutions, not solve anything, to preserve their way of doing things & their privilege at the expense of others … to maintain those who hold the lever of power.”
I was re-reading this post from @mentack.bsky.social this morning. It was true two years ago. I think it’s true today. What do you think? (Click the link to read it)

Must read. Change is possible, even in Texas.
Some will tell you primaries don’t matter, what we see in March doesn’t translate into November. They are wrong.
March sends a strong signal for what is to come. And 2026 has sent one heck of a signal. I wrote about it. Please read it and share it. Click the link.

I wanted to share what looks like the final counts from the 2026 Tarrant County Primaries for total turnout, comparing it all the way back to 2014
33k above highest Dem count (2020)
114k above highest Dem midterm (2022)
Highest D/R ratio at 1.29 (beating 1.24 in 2020)
A lot of wind in the sails
A whole lot of us have already voted, but statistically there is 40%+ of folks who wait until Election Day. Here are the actual breakdowns by vote type since 2018.
Where do we think we land after today? Will it stay above 40% on ED? Or dip under like 2024?
