do you have any like, particular advice for how to pick out places as someone who's not super interested in 18+ roleplay? obviously no judgement to the folks who engage in it responsibly but it's just not personally the side of the scene I'm really looking to get into.

the communities i tend to be most active in are generally queer safe spaces but even in those safe spaces I've had my fears realized and had someone hear my voice ask "why do you sound like a dude" or something along those lines. and that certainly doesn't make it easier to set those fears aside!

being a tgirl online who has a relatively deep voice normally and has effectively "failed" all the vocal training I've tried and who likes to be active in communities it's always so nerve racking actually vocally talking to people in those communities for the first time.

I'll probably make more of a concerted effort to get into RP once I'm more caught up with the content (still only in post-ARR content) but I'd definitely still like to dabble in it a little between now and then

wanting to get into FFXIV roleplay communities is an equivalent feeling to standing in the corner at a party for me, because 1) I'm too early game to have a lot of glamour options still and 2) even online the prospect of approaching people I don't already know is nervous-making

this feels a little rude and gatekeep-y. i get if there's some frustration from people misunderstanding a game, but anyone who's interested should be allowed to engage in its community. also understand a lot of people don't really have the means to just buy anything that catches their fancy.

not really a romantic movie but Look Back came the closest to doing this for me recently. it's too late in the evening rn for me to be very detailed with the why of it, but to put it super simply it's a movie about art but what exactly it's saying about art can very easily be transposed onto love.

Like Final Fantasy has always been all about experimenting from title to title with its thematics and gameplay. If character action isn't your cup of tea you're absolutely fine to not like the game, but it not having the same gameplay as your favorite Final Fantasy game doesn't invalidate it.

I think one of the most obnoxious things I've seen repeated about FFXVI since its release is the idea that "it's not a real Final Fantasy." If someone doesn't like the game, that's fine, but that phrase in and of itself has and always will comically miss the entire point of the franchise.

they should make a version of ff14 where instead of the world being scary and sad and needing you to save it, everything is perfectly fine everybody is friends and like kissing on the lips and stuff.

i think it's just that the older final fantasy games gave more of an illusion of non-linearity because of the open map and occasional ability to go to an area early before you're forced to go there in the story. so when that illusion is taken away people just notice the linearity easier.
