I had a summer temp job for a few days moving furniture in that building back in the early 90s, and this was absolutely normal. Utterly surreal in hindsight.

👋 Hi! For those unfamiliar I'm Hawk, a UX Engineer on the @vscode.dev team. As 2025 comes to a close, I've been wanting to get a pulse on how folks are writing code.

Genuinely curious: What tool(s) do you use? What do you like/dislike about them? What do you wish your tool could do that it doesn't?

A pale blue hanging oval sign in a wood frame, showing a hand-drawn blue whale, with the words "Exploding Whale Memorial Park" surrounding it. The sign is at the entrance to a small park, in Florence, Oregon in the United States.

Obviously had to stop by this legendary spot while driving up the Oregon coast this summer.

An IKEA instruction sheet for "NOSFERATU" that shows the bald-headed IKEA man telling you you'll need a hammer and a wooden stake for this. The next panel down shows two images. The first has a frowning IKEA man kneeling next to an open coffin while the moon is up. No, IKEA man. Do not do this. The next image is the same, but the sun is up and he's smiling. This is the way, IKEA man. The next panel shows IKEA man struggling to move a coffin on his own. The large black 'X' across this image shows what a terrible idea this is. The adjacent image has the bald-headed IKEA man getting the help of curly-haired IKEA man and moving coffins as a duo is now a doddle. The bottom panel shows a puzzled IKEA man staring into the open coffin while holding the stake and hammer. The last image shows IKEA man being bitten by the swirling figure emerging from the coffin. He's dropped his tools and is looking to curly-haired IKEA man for help, but curly-haired IKEA man has already shit his pants and is giving it legs in a cowardly act of self-preservation. Don't be surprised when bald-headed IKEA man comes tapping at your window in the dead of night, curly-haired IKEA man.

Folks who know #atproto, I have Qs I still haven’t found answers to and would love any thoughts / opinions you have!

1. Given that most PDSs are hosted by @bsky.app, if an atproto app comes along that gets really popular, does that mean Bluesky is now covering the hosting costs of that app’s data?

You did no fact checking, and I must scream I'm neither a journalist nor a professional fact checker but, the thing is, it's has never been easier to check basic facts. Yeah, sure, there's a world of misinformation out there, but it doesn't take much effort to determine if something is likely to be true. There are brilliant tools like reverse Image Search which give you a good indicator of when an image first appeared on the web, and…

Radiohead condemn ‘exploitative’ touts and resale sites ahead of tour Band urges fans to avoid secondary sites, where more than 1,000 potentially fraudulent tickets for their shows have been found

I've been considering whether to do this for months.

Now that Radiohead tickets are being offered for huge mark-ups on resale sites (as per our story today), I think the time has come.

We're going to play a game of Catch The Ticket Tout. 🧵

I need some help!

I’m working on a YouTube video that explores what it would take to build a web app that, if built today, could last 100 years.

It covers tech stack, dev strategies, DX, etc but I need help coming up with a demo.

Any fun ideas for a full stack app meant to live for a century??

I've been bedridden for the last 7 months, unable to work, and now my roommate who was covering rent is having tax issues. I need to raise a few thousand dollars to cover rent and bills for this month, so If you could send a couple dollars, it'd really help. Thanks so much.

40 years ago, I was playing this very cheap and extremely cheerful Mastertronic budget rerelease. A really great game that had split-screen multiplayer - which was still a very new and exciting thing at the time. Really bloody hard too, but that was how it was back then.

The Dons are going up! And good job by the @cbssports.bsky.social producer who absolutely knew why they were putting Mumford & Sons behind every recap clip in the breaks.

Mikey T. closing off with “avoiding a battering, now we’ve got bigger fish to fry” was poetic.

The official commentary for the @afcwimbledon1889.bsky.social win over Grimsby closing off with “avoiding a battering, now we’ve got bigger fish to fry” is just one of the many reasons I love this club.

Assassin‘s Creed shadows is an absolute fantastic game. It’s a little repetitive, but so is life. It’s absolutely gorgeous, unbelievably massive, there’s easily 60 hours+ content here, 38 castles, you can literally just walk around just being a ninja and ignore the whole plot if you feel like it
