In my mind, belittling someone for their take on what is essentially a mascot for creative freedom is just ignorant.

Anyone who cares about the character and what she represents wouldn't do that.

To try and tell someone how they can and can't draw her is so utterly ridiculous to me. Through her, thousands of artists found a voice for themselves. That's what this shit is about. Freedom in expression and people coming together to celebrate it.

I was recently unfortunate enough to see screenshots of a giant, ugly argument occurring on X over this drawing of Hatsune Miku.

Speaking as someone who has been - for over 15 years - invested in the art scenes that developed out of her voice/image: Hatsune Miku represents creative freedom.

Yeah no problem. It was kind of odd the way the post was split up, and then Diplo's wording obviously wasn't great either.

I'm confident that anyone who looks like as much of a tool as either of them is more than familiar with other tools of the same magnitude

Diplo unfortunately is a prominent EDM "artist" who has produced for or otherwise worked with MANY big name pop artists. BTS, Weeknd, Beyonce, Bieber, etc.

What he says has a large amount of influence in a creative industry that is at risk. That's why it's important to push back.
