Seems like #Fluxer is getting to be quite popular. Happy to see an (open source) alternative to #Discord that I can actually see my friends using.
A flyer that reads ‘need something recorded?? Got music problems? Audio cleanup? Mixing?? Call ky. Ky.brooks@protonmail.com “they’re pretty nice” and has a janky photoshop job of my face photoshopped onto the body of a house painter
In the interests of remaining off of instagram (and still getting work hopefully) I’ve made an ad for myself. I know this is the wrong audience because like half of y’all are audio engineers too but I had fun making this so here it is
Wow the users on the threadiverse are far more combative than users on the rest of the fediverse in my experience. Every few posts I make somebody tries to start an argument with me. I think reddit-style content really brings out the worst in people.
YEAR OF THE LINUX DESKTOP
yes I made altbot
yes I contributed most of the code
yes I run the main instance and have a server in a data center mainly for it
but. altbot is not only my project. i get busy, I get tired, I get bored. i do what I can to maintain and support it. but help from other people would be also very […]
Just started playing #HollowKnight, it's a perfect game for the #SteamDeck. Can't wait to play #SilkSong!
So far I'm at the "everything sucks" part of #enshitiffication and looking forward to the "and what to do about it" part, because god damn this is upsetting.
Inside photo of the bottom compartment of a ThinkPad T420s showing a custom purple PCB holding an ESP32-S3 and an SX1262 radio in the slot originally meant for a WWAN card.
Photo of the screen of the same T420s showing the meshtastic client open connected to the Meshtastic node via serial over USB
The little Meshtastic node inside of my ThinkPad T420s is surprisingly good (one of the antennas measured quite well for the frequencies used, so I wired it in. I assume it was meant for GNSS? Or UMTS?).
The PCB is a quick custom design I whipped up in […]

I'm getting a bit annoyed with incomplete profiles on the fediverse. Has anybody managed to create a practical solution to this problem yet?

As much as I'd like to keep Fedi notifications on 24/7, this community if far too global. I get notifications at all hours of the day and night from random interactions all over the world.
What a wonderful place.
I've been a daily smoker of marijuana for half my life (started at 14 and I'm approaching 30).
I finally decided it's time to quit.
It's been pretty easy so far (and honestly quite refreshing), but the lack of sleep is starting to drive me a bit crazy.
#DavidChartrand of the #Manitoba #Métis Federation has been the president for 28 years. He's getting up there in age and considering retirement, yet I can't imagine anybody replacing him. The #MMF wouldn't be where it is today without him.
A screenshot from a phone running phosh. The mobile settings app's feedback panel is open and the user has selected a custom alarm sound.
While you can configure the alarm clock sound in #Phosh the default isn't great atm (it's the fallback from the freedesktop.org sound theme).
If your into 🎵 music / sound design and want to provide us with a good morning wake up sound 😴 please join us on […]

Holy shit y'all ... My local hospital just emailed that I have a message in my medical chart. Sure, my doctor puts stuff there and I get it through the same system. No problem. I log in, it's a message from the hospital stating they're now offering new services!
I thought I had a medical […]

Early Christmas gift from my GF. Perfect for my long flight in a few days!

1. The biggest takeaway from this so far is that both require ~10-20 minutes of customization before they're usable for me.
2. What seriously surprised me is how little of a difference it made to how I use my computer. They really aren't that different.
3. My largest issue on KDE is that I […]
Okay for the first time since 2020 I'm giving KDE a solid try outside of using it on my Steam Deck. Going to keep using GNOME with Fedora on my laptop and KDE with CachyOS on my desktop for now.

Someone on the Steam subreddit was asking for Valve to make a #SteamOS phone (seeing how the new VR headset is Arm but also playes x86 steam games). And I thought "Hey, I've already got #PostmarketOS on a phone. We know Valve is using some 'FEX' library. How hard […]

I really like #GNOME.

I helped a friend set up his home server recently. Starting to understand why these all-in-one solutions are getting more and more popular.
Even with someone who's interested in self hosting, I could see some of what I was explaining would go in one ear and out the other. All he wants are […]
Posting from 0.20.0! #GoToSocial
#GNOME is actually the ideal interface for a mobile device. I wonder if my #OnePlus6 is finally reliable enough to use #PostmarketOS full time. Maybe my next device will be something powerful that can run #Linux from day 1.
Between #FireFox, #Tuba, #Secrets, #Joplin, #Signal, #Lagrange, and […]
