My favorite female villain is my favorite perceisly because her canon took her serious as a sex pest, not the comedic playing down we see so often in media.

Personally I do find female villainity, including sexual, *in fiction* empowering - but rather from a Doylist POV: Taking women serious as "full" people equal to men comes with acknowledging that they also able of doing all the evil things, too.

O, dammit, I just recently said that I find it more feminist to show female characters in all the same shades of villainity male characters get than to purify wlw. 😅😅😅

But in my defence: I'm also not the person who would do that hypocrisy.

My sibling in christ, any gender constellation can be abusive! You associate the wrong trope and wouldn't survive a single queer/wlw fic in that trope

Where are the "pro-life" folks when it comes to advocate for sex ed, easy access to contraceptives and morning-after pills, low-threshold and free healthcare, de-stigmatisation of CSA and Rape survivors and government support services for pregnant people and parents?

That means:
* crack ships CAN be popular and wholesome
* rare ships CAN be canon evident and wholesome
* problematic/dark ships CAN be popular and canon evident

Of course with many ships there is an overlap. BUT it's not always like that!

A note on fandom terms about ship types that often get mixed up:

CRACK SHIP: A ship that is completely unthinkable in the source material.
RARE SHIP: A ship that isn't shipped by many people.
PROBLEMATIC/DARK SHIP: A ship that would be harmful in real life.

One ship can hit 1, 2 or all 3 boxes

I write in a few *fandoms* that have less than 100 entries, one even had less than 10 before I wrote some fics for it. Maybe once a year somebody clicks on the fics, but I had those are happy the fics exist

I think there is a lot of confusion around the terms rareship, crackship and problematic/darkship.... generally speaking, not limited to them.

Like people often use those terms interchangeable, but they mean different things and a ship can also fit just one of the boxes, too.
