Lawyers have formed medieval trade guilds that stifle competition to raise prices, all in the name of guaranteeing quality for the consumer.

What it really does is deny ordinary people justice whilst they themselves get rich.

This is not acceptable.

Here's the thing. If you act honourably at all times, including not lying, cheating, stealing etc.., you will have a lot less regret later.

So if I employ a programmer and he gets to 80 and hasn't moved on from COBOL, you think I should keep paying him?

The nature of the internet is that there are many people reading my post who, for perfectly valid reasons, are unable to follow my advice. What do you want me to do?
a. Don't suggest people encourage others to do better, or
b. Try to list all the exceptions which invalidate my proposal?

We individually need to stop using oil. Install solar panels, a battery and heat pump, and get an EV. Encourage others to do the same.

Trump has permanently diminished the US. You won't recover what you once had. For example, countries are now boycotting Microsoft. That will be very hard to reverse as open source gets entrenched in these countries and companies.

Boycotts, one after another, are destroying America's place in the world. By the time America has realised it, it will be too late. Even now, Trump has done irreparable harm to the standing of the US. Irreparable harm. Can't be fixed within 100 years harm.

Anything with Sarah Paine is worth hearing. Geopolitics explained excellently.

Trump will have enough to eat, so he doesn't care.

100M will go hungry from what's happened already. Probably millions will now die.

"Man of peace"? What a sick joke.

I particularly enjoy the insight of ConiferGirl.

She likes Trump about as much as I do, but says it more eloquently.

Natural hydrogen is interesting, but combustion for power is still only ~40 efficient. Maybe up to 60% in a fuel cell.

If we can get cheap H2, there will be no shortage of uses for it, including electricity generation and making NH3 for propulsion and fertiliser. Let the market decide!

That's a mix of technologies.
Compressed air is lossy because compression is wasteful, producing lots of heat that is discarded. Right now, as a means of storing energy, it is unpopular. We can anchor bags on the sea floor to store energy, "unlimited" capacity, but uneconomic.

I had not. I looked it up. It looks like a low rate of production, and it's not that close to implementation, but it might be great.

I am not expecting it to produce any quantity of H2 in the next 10 years.

It is better for everyone if NATO does not help Trump. It will save many lives, including American, to not have another "Vietnam".

The right of free passage through the Strait of Hormuz is not something that Iran has the right to control, and the US doesn't have the right to give it away.

We shall see how this works out, but it is unlikely to be good.

You own what you supported. You don't just own your deeds, but the reasonably foreseeable consequences.

Trump is making 7bn people poorer, 100M will go hungry, and millions of others will die of famine, and people like Tucker Carlson enabled it by supporting Trump.

And there are people out there who will still not be satisfied.

On the plus side, gas stations are going to notice reduced consumption due to EVs and the price of petrol/diesel.

Trump is really encouraging the purchase of EVs!

Any mainstream media coverage of this? The depth of corruption is staggering.

The UK system of Members of Parliament (MPs) choosing the Prime Minister (PM), can be messy at times, but it seems to work better than the US Presidential system.

Essentially, MPs can get rid of the PM whenever he or she is messing up, because that's better than that party losing the next election.

The UK has a thing called the Boundaries Commission. They work through the boundaries for every election territory. They are impartial.

The US needs something like that.

Now I have a better understanding of your English. You are German. Don't worry, you write very well, but your English felt like you were perhaps in your 20s, but your content has the maturity of someone older, so I was a little confused. Not that your age matters, I was just curious.

7bn people are poorer. 100M will go hungry. Millions will starve to death. The international "rule of law" has been trashed.

Trump has the reverse Meidas touch- everything he is involved with turns to shit.

This is, quite simply, absurd. Trump is not Jesus. Republicans really ought to know that by now.
