Photo of two overlapping copies of How Comics Are Made. A green background on the jacket, it’s a hardcover book, with images of comic panels and printing materials arrayed around the central title. A cartoonist is in the upper left in a small photo. The books are against a white background.
My book on the history of newspaper comics printing did so well on Kickstarter that a publisher bought the rights and How Comics Are Made is nearing a year in bookstores! Great gift for the comic strip obsessed. Thanks! howcomicsaremade.ink
Sounds like a job for a state attorney general consumer affairs department!
My concern is that an unsupported charger frying the battery would void the warranty!
We are very careful with 220V in THIS country!
How often do you do things like tire rotation and brake pads?
US car dealers hate EVs because EVs need a lot less maintenance

The last few cars I’ve bought, which have been few, were thru Costco pricing or my service shop. No haggling required. Zero regrets on price. No maintenance issues.

I just remembered this tweet, and I didn't post one when everyone was posting funny tweets
But we have an IC in good condition that we plan to keep. Selling our less efficient around-town car, which is now expensive given low city efficiency and high gas prices.
We’ve got the issue of 110V being standard so we will probably get a Level 2 plug installed at our driveway! But we’ll check out first what makes sense for our normal habits. There are CHAdeMO chargers at stations along major highways in my part of the country, so the real question will be: how long
For me this thread forever remains the condensed essence of Mastodon bsky.app/profile/numb...
Yeah, I am counting that into the price. Our current IC we’ve had for 12 years and have about 50,000 miles on it? So we just need mostly local range. If it lasted 12 years, the used price for a 2022 Leaf (and Seattle electricity prices) is very attractive.

Got it.
I am always amazed at people with that kind of vocal capability, particularly when used for good!
Huh! I will take a closer look. I'm interested in buying from a well-rated dealer in terms of warranty and support, but I don't know enough about how Autotrader works.
That’s great! I am looking at 2022 or 2023 model years, as that’s well within battery warranty period *and* it feels like you’re getting ~$20,000 off the price of a new model because of the lack of NACS and slightly shorter range.
How is the regenerative braking? I assumed there’s ok efficiency, so you a decent portion back?
That’s good to hear. I know multiple Leaf owners, too. This feels like a transition car—I don’t need a hybrid, might as well keep existing aging IC! But we don’t want to spend $25K to $35K for a car that we drive relatively little. We have a Subaru in good condition, too.
Interesting! I really want a 2–4 year old car due to at least’s Nissan 8-year battery warranty (the worst defects are likely to crop up in that period), and I'd have to go back (in my area) to a late 2010s Bolt for same prices, looks like. I mostly need 50-mile range!
Yeah, I am reluctant to use an unsupported expensive cable!
I’m thinking of buying a 4-year old Leaf, well aware of the charging standard issue, as I mostly drive around town. They are sub-$20K in my area for high-quality cars. Any drawbacks I’m missing? We have compatible chargers all over the Northwest for any longer trips.
FYI, not tweaking the author. Anyone who loves Tolkien should immediately read The Tower and the Ruin by Michael D.C. Drout. isbn.nu/9781324093886
Apparently, I just learned about it!
