Hello Psychology Bluesky - does anyone know an open data depository where I could send Research Methods students to find datasets? I had a link to an OSF repository, but it no longer works after the revamp. Thank you!

I just got the student-led teaching award nominations in my inbox and commenced my annual crying session. Honestly, whenever I have doubts about the academic career, I think - 'but working with students and ECRs...' and, let's be honest - I will die an academic and a teacher.

the twitter user showing off her knit - a green sweater with a little black and white cow

the actual original design, a green sweater with the exact same cow

the actual original design, a green sweater with the exact same cow

Step 1: This person claimed she used Claude to "vibe knit"
Step 2: Claude used the tweets in their marketing campaign
Sept 3: It's actually just plagiariazing the design of a small knit designer named Miranda's knits

Mid-way through finishing my lecture, office decided to shut all apps down and update. Right NOW. I just love my timelines being dictated by an algorithm, because I haven't noticed a pop up an hour ago or so...

Is this a current photo? I am just surprised to see the (last year's?) leaves!

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

I literally started my 1st Research Methods class yday with 'Blue Monday' as an example of how some claims lack sci evidence and how we will learn to better distinguish anecdotes from facts. Disappointed with Zoe- for a company that claims to be science-informed, this is poor choice of advertising.

After a streak of paper rejections, a lovely R&R landed in my inbox last night- a paper co-written with a fantastic MSc student last Autumn. I am so excited about this, especially as this is a bit outside of my usual research topic. 🀩

Indeed, absolutely not.

Objection. I have never enjoyed a show more than Stranger Things. That said, it might be partially to the setting and esthetics. Yours truly, 80ties child.

β€˜Tis the season for mindful gifting, say researchers | About | University of Stirling β€˜Tis the season for mindful gifting, say researchers

I absolutely love this - unwanted gifts really stress me out. I don't know what to do with them and then it's my job to try and donate or regift them somewhere. At the same time, it's probably expected to reciprocate. www.stir.ac.uk/news/2025/no...

Does anyone here have a copy of Marks 1995 (VVIQ-2) paper? My students contacted the author, but he no longer has a copy and could not signpost us where to get one. If anyone can help,I would be very grateful!

Microsoft booking! :) We spent an hour trying to automate a workflow for a complicated study today!

I think bookings may work after all, but you set this up as a service and need to get student RA's staff accounts with appropriate permissions. Still to be resolved, but at least it's looking promising now.

Oh, thanks I will check this out as we should have some money left in the grant. Will keep you posted if I figure anything out. Thanks for responding!

Yes! But it doesn't work with student RAs and we have two. I suppose I could try get them staff accounts. I think they were going to speak with IC if there is a solution...

Thanks a lot. I made an account but the options it gave me were 1:n or n:1 (experimenters:subs) & we need n:n. We have a double testing set up with multiple RAs and two participants per slot. I wanted to automate as much of it as possible as the SOP is complicated, but maybe I just can't this one :/

Not sure if I am explaining this correctly, but as far as we see, nothing has the capability to handle multiple experimenters and multiple participants (per slot). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for advice on booking system that is usable for multiple lab members (students and staff) & where more than one participant can book the same slot (2) using a direct link. A link that would display all slots to book from and once two 'spaces' are taken per slot, disappears from view. 1/n

I am looking to create a lab code of conduct/manual/safety check type document outlining the ethos of how we work. Could anyone point me in the direction of a good (open source) example covering safety, comms, working with others etc.? Or would anyone be willing to share theirs? Thank you!

I am on Farage's list of ILR-ners to be deported, should they win the next election. I honestly can't remember when I last got so angry. Good start of the week here πŸ‘Œ
