good morning shoe ladybug tree
A screenshot of the indie game Octobug, depicting Webster the spider holding a shotgun on a platform while a fly is nearby. Kill count is at zero.
A mock-up of the same Octobug screenshot, except Webster is now a purple tarantula and the fly enemy is a slightly edited photo of a real housefly. The pixel art has been replaced with weird textures.
Wow! I can't believe the difference the NVIDIA DLSS 5 made for Octobug, it's never looked better! Digital Foundry calls this a "revolutionary innovation"!
starting to really hit me that i'm about halfway done with my next commercial release ๐ #Shplief
love when an evening of game development is spent mostly on troubleshooting a finicky issue
yeah love those nights
oh my grit teeth? it's a smile, totally, i promise
love troubleshooting

just Shplief things
64x64 icon of a dinosaur lookin' real small against a blank gray background.
*squint*
be honest with me ...
when i make this guy real little ,
can you still tell it's a dinosaur ?

One not-insignificant motivation for me, as a free-time indiedev -- I really want my kids to see their dad succeed at creative endeavors.
so uhhh the creator of Wordle released a new game called Parseword
and, spoiler alert, if you enjoy that sort of 'cryptic crossword' thinking -- you'll be ready for my upcoming game Shplief (in fact Shplief will be way easier lol)
made my first ambient track ๐
An image of twelve 64x64 icons, each intended to represent a word. The objects are: Shark, Diamond, Sponge, Frame, Slingshot, Chainsaw, Camera, Dart, Puzzle, Whisk, Trident, Hike (Hiker? hm maybe that last one's not real intuitive)
if YOU can identify at least two of these icons
then congrats: YOU will be ready for Shplief!

forcing myself to finish my current couple projects (i'm actually making good consistent progress, i promise!! lol) by getting *really* excited about the one *after* those
brainhack gang rise up or something
I think I wanna follow more indiedevs. Y'all are inspirational and great. I should get on that.
An example of whimsy in games that I am always delighted to remember: The celebratory ostrich in Championship Bowling (NES).
How strange! How random! How wonderful!
FL Studio, where Ctrl + B is the keyboard shortcut to... copy, or duplicate... hm, how to remember this... BOOMplicate? Boom, there it is again! Bazooka now there's twoka! Uhh... bi-patterned! Er... BAMBAM thank you ma'am (x2)... buh, buh...
even better ๐

A menu screenshot from the in-development game Shplief, a casual puzzle title. Listed in the image are a series of numbered puzzle titles, such as "84. Crying Drop" and "90. An Uncommon Insult" and "100. Usually Two Or Four". Each corresponded to a puzzle in the game.
In the game Shplief, you will solve puzzles, and each puzzle will be numbered and have a title.
Similar to a crossword, some answers you may derive merely from the clue given. Others, you will likely figure out from the options provided. And some will just feel unfair! ๐
the years
where do they go
might write some music tonight ๐ค
well, it's Mario Day.
here's a reminder of a really cool thing we did once with @tinybookshelf.itch.io
have fun, nerds.
An in-development screenshot (cropped) from budget puzzle game Shplief, depicting several letter-icons on the left side of the image (C, Q, N, T, V, other partials) while the right side of the image has clusters of small creatures like some beetles, some spiders, some bees, a moth, some ants, etc.
*sigh* just found a whole bunch of bugs in one of the puzzles smh
#Shplief
One fun thing about game development: Every once in a while you have an idea (not a game concept, more of a mechanical thing), and you realize you're not sure if you can do it -- and there's only one way to find out. Put it in and try! And it's fun. ๐
staring myself down in a mirror and screaming I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T START ANY NEW PROJECTS THIS YEAR I WON'T--
Our next game is Verminsteel!
You're a bird with a broadsword, kicking thousands of fascists so hard they fly into the sun
PLEASE go wishlist it, it'll make me really happy and help me stop low-key panicking and stuff: store.steampowered.com/app/4352280/... #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev
definitely made forward progress tonight
but also very much a "wow where did the time go?! ๐ญ" sort of night (not nearly enough progress!!)
does anyone have some spare Infinite Time i could borrow? thanks

Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well, who am I to keep you down?
It's only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully
To the sound of your loneliness
