Kansas drivers face new cell phone restrictions in school, construction zones Drivers caught using phones in restricted zones will face warning and then fines for each violation.

Governor Kelly signed a bill on Friday banning the use of cell phones while driving in a school or construction zone.

Under the new law, anyone caught using a cell phone in those areas will be subject to a warning citation, and starting July 1 of 2027, a $60 fine for each violation.
