When I minored in Japanese, I hoped I'd get some chances to use it in my future career, but I gotta say I never predicted it would involve Godzilla and Ninja Turtles comics.

I thought I might regret picking a pysanky pattern with so many straight lines, but I'm actually pretty happy with this year's attempt

It connected a lot of dots when I realized this movie was directed by the co-creators of Max Headroom

I feel like "what the fuck (complimentary)" sums up David Lynch's whole vibe pretty well

Madeleine Vasaly — My Work: Comics & Graphic Novels

I'm also the current proofreader and/or copyeditor for all of IDW's Godzilla comics, which include the new Kai-Sei Era lineup the RPG ties into as well as titles like Godzilla's Monsterpiece Theatre, TMNT x Godzilla, and Mothra: Queen of the Monsters, to name just a few.

I don't post all that often about what I'm working on, but in addition to a whole lot of comic series and graphic novels, one of my big ongoing projects for IDW has been copyediting this—the new official Godzilla TTRPG!

I know it’s difficult right now, but I insist that you seek and enjoy beautiful things, even if it seems frivolous or irresponsible in the face of overwhelming horror. I want you to feed yourself artistically, spiritually, and literally, because you can’t Do The Work when you’re starving.

Chicago follows that cap style as of the current edition too

I'm a little rusty on AP style, but I think they keep the cap on titles even in constructions like "former President So-and-So," which I expect would extend to "ex"

Also overnight, someone totally destroyed the memorial outside my Whittier apartment building where there's been a vigil every night since Alex Pretti was killed. Ours was so tiny that it's probably unrelated… but if so, it's a hell of a coincidence.

Tattooing as Self-Care and Resistance “One thing all tattoos have in common is that they represent ownership, connection, and expression of the body and self.”

I just got mine on my upper back!

I wrote about how getting my first tattoo was unexpectedly helpful in dealing with the ICE occupation and how Minnesota tattoo shops are acting as sites of self-care, mutual aid, and ways to just say “Fuck ICE.”

You know, this is a horrible way to meet my neighbors.

My neighbors are amazing. My neighbors protect their own.

My neighborhood is in the news for a horrible reason. But at the protests and vigils today, I saw humanity at its best.

People constantly distributing hand warmers in the subzero temps. People opening their homes and businesses. People setting out tables with supplies. People caring for each other.

I should also be clear—today is when the killing came here, but it's far from ICE's first visit. Just days ago, they were gassing people blocks away from this intersection. And they will just keep escalating.

Today it came to my neighborhood. ICE killed Alex Pretti in a spot I've walked through hundreds of times in the 12+ years I've lived in Whittier.

Every day since this occupation started, there's been a new horror. It won't stop until we get them out.
