I was writing a piece that was very much in D. And it was so annoying that the mowers could not be in tune!

I’m being made to watch old slides from my youth. I can accurately tell you what buildings are in the shots and where they are taken, but no idea what the people are feeling.

When I’m feeling a little down, this always helps :-)

I was happy/fortunate to perform for Xenia Concerts yesterday in Toronto. The travelling does get to me tho’

How does anyone read exact “feelings” in a piece of music? It is always influenced by historical and cultural influences. On the other hand I much prefer playing Clara and Fanny than their most “famous” male counterparts.

I feel like I should get a commission on this… My good friend @majatoudal.bsky.social and Tony Attwood have just published an excellent book on this topic: “Energy Accounting”. I highly recommend it (and not just because I co-host a podcast with her!)

Today has been a tough day. I’ve been sad all day and all my usual solutions that I tried didn’t work. My wife, after she had finished work, made me come for a walk on the beach with her. This is the first time we have been down here for months! It sort of worked.
