9 For Seattle members showed up on the mic at City Hall this AM to support Housing Opportunities (HOP) to ensure more homes are built sooner.
For several, it was the first time giving public comment. We showed up because we believe Seattle can grow in a way that works for all.

How does @nytimes.com get this headline...when the poll had this statistic in Q#2?
Mariners "We'll getcha next time!"
I...don't really care. Pikes market, Pike's Place Market. Pikes Peak Meats. We have one of the greatest public spaces in America and I am thankful. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
We urbanists often fight over housing and transportation. Which are important. I want to talk about fun more too. The little market by our house, Joe'z Bayside Market and Cafe, held their first trivia night. IT WAS PACKED and FUN and I walked from my house.
NY Times had two fun Seattle stories on back-to-back days. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/06/r... www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/d...
Now that everyone’s paying attention to global energy markets and effects of faraway events on prices and decision-making, is it a good time to talk about the indirect land use effects of dedicating cropland to biofuel production or nah?
It is really exciting to watch Lukas's journey and learning. There is a lot to be said for just trying something and adjusting along the way.
Now they are in the Med and the latest video adds a discussion with a shipper who believes the technology could move goods through the channels of Europe, and in the Med, with solar power.
Yet he did it. Things were safer in the channels of France and a bit warmer. Along the way he added some panels that can be shifted to get more sun (which helped a lot) and batteries as well.
It really shows how his Helios 11 boat can travel without refueling and how it could be applied to other boats. The early videos are scary, he is alone, with a waning winter sun low on the horizon crossing the Baltic, scraping for every electron. www.slashgear.com/2086007/yout...
Following solar transportation, I suggest Lukas at www.youtube.com/@Lukas-TrueN.... He hand-built a solar boat in Finland, crossed the Baltic (with partner) in Winter, and crossed through French channels to make it to the Med a few days ago. He's learning, adjusting, and planning for the next boat.
Great NYT piece on the Iran War, oil, and the energy transition. It touches on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the impact on oil, but misses how much Russian oil infrastructure is now a target. 40% of Baltic Sea oil capacity was wiped out this week alone. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/27/m...
HANetf, a European exchange-traded fund (ETF) issuer, launched its new Ukraine Reconstruction ETF on March 12. The new ETF includes publicly traded companies set to play a role in Ukraine's postwar recovery — such as European infrastructure and energy companies.
While some reporting suggested that the U.S. could just walk away from negotiations, one Ukrainian official told the Kyiv Independent that Washington would pressure Kyiv to accept Moscow's demands.
"American society doesn't believe Ukraine is to blame," the person said.
It would be truly amazing if it was. Will watch it soon.
I have watched The Expanse, but not FAMK.
Thanks!
Wait, what is?
Rarely a good sign.
Ukraine is also launching relentless, multi-faceted, attacks on Russia's petro-industry, in hopes it starves the war machine. This is an eternal message, but removing fossil fuels from your economy is as much a national defense issue as climate or economic. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/23/b...
Also, they keep trying to make something heavy to take an ATGM in the face and they really need a system more like the Israeli Trophy.
Western carmakers are retreating from EVs just as oil hits $100 a barrel.
The parallels with Detroit in the 1980s are striking. They ignored fuel-efficient Japanese cars. Now they’re ignoring Chinese EVs.
BYD just unveiled 600-mile range and 250 miles of charge in 5 minutes.
New ARG poll is wild. Trump at 34%. On economy 33% GOP at 73% approval, one of the lowest GOP # I can remember while Trump is in office. americanresearchgroup.com/economy/
The history of Danish wind power is rooted in cooperative ownership. That is why it was so successful. Locals had an ownership stake and benefitted. Thus there was little resistance. Why did that paradigm not continue into solar?

1/ whenever long time tesla / musk company reporters hear him offering charity we all have stories of how & why his offers tend to be… complicated: www.cnbc.com/2019/10/08/t... the thai kids stuck in a flooding cave system? he offered (ultimately useless, not feasible) mini subs…
What a crazy world.
Watching the US move on Venezuela and Iran can only lead to China flooring it on getting off fossil fuels.
