Quote attributed to Callie Simon, Executive Director of SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change, reads: "I think it's not hyperbolic to say that sex ed is currently a battleground for the future of our country." It sits on a photograph, taken by Giulia Squillace, of a classroom with green chairs and a blue wall.

Trans joy can't be erased 🏳️‍⚧️

So while legislators try to block visibility by erasing trans students from classrooms, they cannot erase an entire community and the bravery of trans people continuing to live as their authentic selves, even if it's only in the moments when it's safe to do so.

At the top of the image, a bold cool orange heading reads “The Shocking
Reason Many Miss Out on Sex Ed." Below it is a multi-color map of the United States with a legend. The eight states with opt-in policies are highlighted in red (Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, Texas, and Utah). The four states with both opt-in and opt-out policies are highlighted in blue (Montana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wyoming). 32 states have opt-out policies and are highlighted in green. The background is a light tan.

Honest sex ed is popular and effective! Despite this, more states are pushing for opt-in policies that would reduce participation. No student should be denied vital sexual health and abuse-prevention information because of paperwork.

Sex ed should grow up with us 🪴 Abstinence-only is stuck in the past.

Not much has changed in decades🕸️, abstinence-only is still built on fear and shame, purity and impurity, because that's all it knows.
