I'm going to chime in and say that parents who have gotten to support and love their trans child and have seen them loved by friends and medical professionals have most definitely experienced joy in parenthood. Parenthood is a wild and hard ride, but that is a joy I would never trade.

First day in almost a year that I'm not wearing my hair in a way that directly covers any brow lift scars from facial feminization surgery. Just owning the hell out of transition and these eyes and hair I want vs hair I think I need.

Driving through rural Ontario to a gender care appointment and thinking about all the rural queer folks who see so many of their neighbors so happily place their conservative signs out during an election. "We just don't give a shit" these signs scream.

I'm exhausted from needing to shave my face, put on makeup, wear a dress every minute of the day in order for most people to see me for who I am. I don't think people understand just how exhausting it is to be a trans person who just wants to hear "thank you ma'am" while wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

Trans person who doesn't "pass" or make women "worried you're going to steal their husbands," deserve safe and ready access to washrooms that match our gender. ALL trans people deserve this.

The mental health consequences of making trans kids play sports outside of their gender are so much more of an issue than a cis-woman finishing 6th instead of 7th at a swim meet. There's no proof trans people in sports hurt women, there's much proof that alienating trans people kills trans people.

I have got to the point in transition where I have cut my hair very short and it doesn't bother me at all in terms of how I look to others. It sounds small but it feels huge.

Took my estrogen, progesterone, and cyproterone this morning. And I'll take more tonight, and tomorrow morning and every med time going forward. Every time I take them I'll be reminded I'm a beautiful trans woman deserving of these treatments.

None of this is impactful to hateful people. We aren't taking their chicken fingers, we're living the most basic life we can. We simply exist.

To argue that you exist is so crushing. Thank you to everyone who continually understands or strives to understand that trans people just want to be alive.

I see the expression "I don't know how to convince you to care about other humans," and wonder what in the world to do. We wake up, go to school and work, eat chicken fingers, watch bad television, and take a hormone medication that helps us live happier lives.

I'm a trans parent to a trans child and I gotta say, right now, things are not great. To ask people to simply see you as a human being deserving of the kind of care that saves and extends our lives and to be met with "freaks, castration, unnatural," is wild, sad, infuriating.
