Onwards toward the greigification of journalism, making critical examination of power too expensive to be worth it.

This is just one more story in a line of many. Amazon makes money from treating it’s employees as meat machines.
Read the comments.
You make your own choices: mine is to not shop with Amazon.

Contrary to popular belief stoked by the fall of Orban and his pro-Russian policies THIS is the current trend in much of Europe at the moment: ultra-conservative, ethno-nationalistic, and pro-Russian.
Don’t be blinded into passivity. You can make a difference.
Vote!

I’m glad that Orban’s gone. But. Peter Magyar is decribed as a conservative nationalist.
A lot of people would benefit from checking both definitions, not to mention the track record of parties that are conservative nationalists (eg racist and misogynistic).
Happy to be wrong, though.
Night time, trees silouetted against a night sky lit by aurora borealis
The aurora’s up.
A screen shot of Apple’s iOS Notes app, with boxes added to highlight wasteful use of screen space.u
The Liquid Glass UI is such a brilliant study in screen real estate waste, and the lack of balanced proportions makes me seasick. Apple should know better.
(Boxes in pic marks space burnt by mismanagement in the iOS Notes app.)
Picture of th walk by Norr Mälarstrand in Stockholm, Sweden, looking west. Against the sun, so harsh contrasts, and in spring, so no leaves on the trees yet.

<🧵 Meanwhile, all they want is to obliterate all regulation which protects ordinary people from the theft, exploitation, and state-sponsored violence of the corporate state.
You can do the sums yourself in regards to how those two pieces fit together.
The Overton window have shifted so far sideways that ’caring for each other’ has turned into a political statement weaponised by the authoritarians to mean ’illogical weakness’, flung as an insult and branding social liberals (center right) and social democrats (center left) alike as ’crazy left’.🧵>
Are you and your life of lesser value than theirs? Who benefits from us not talking to each other, not challenging each other, not building new insights or new knowledge, new understanding?
And the most important question: who benefits from this? 🧵5/5
In this you need to ask yourself: whose cause are you a tool for? Is the best world one where everyone think the same, dress the same, eat and live the same? Will the ruling class be and live the same way as you? 🧵4/5
All the while the world is burning, from dependence on coal and oil, from all the bombing and breaking, and from rampant extraction economics at scale. 🧵3/5
The chatbots don't want us to speak clearly with each other anyway, so let's not use too big words, yeah? 🧵2/5
In 2026 humankind has truly stepped on the accelerator and is now hurtling itself straight into a nivellated hell of sameness, where the Oxford English Dictionary can tell me that words such as 'nivellate' are obsolete: let's all descend into kindergarten level language of imprecision. 🧵1/5
When you encounter a crappy piece of software your first reaction should not be ”bad usability, bad design, I can remedy this” but rather ”this software has another purpose than to serve my needs” and then ask ”who is the real benefactor”.
For health records it’s almost always about invoicing.
Which concepts a lanugauge has specific words for is telling on it’s culture and norms.
I prefer not to use the English ’natural sciences’ as that choice of wordings implies natural also is meant to mean obvious or self-evident.
I find it endlessly fascinating that in English the ’science’ in STEM means the sciences about the physical nature, and yet they have to qualify it with tech AND engineering, AND mathematics.
Like, they might not be included otherwise, so just add them to be sure.
Screen shot from LinkedIn post: ”Technology scales faster than ethics. The real question isn’t what companies can build, but what they should.”
LinkedIn, today.
Somehow ’scaling ethics’ gives ’one death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic’.
But yeah, right: ethics needs to scale, ethics on an individual level - fx autonomy, integrity - can’t apply on, say, consumer segments?
The context is Meta’s glasses. If anyone wondered.
Screen shot of excerpt of LinkedIn post made by an AI influencer, text as follows: — start excerpt — My take: We are watching intelligence turn into infrastructure. The old assumption was: build a great model, then find customers. The new reality is: secure power, compute, financing, and distribution then scale intelligence like a utility. That shift changes everything. — end of excerpt —
What is even ”We are watching intelligence turn into infrastructure” supposed to mean?!
No matter the growth/extraction-ideology underpinning the text the disdain of humans and humanity should be off-putting. But I guess enough LinkedIn-users are just that insecure to walk into the trap.
More squares, faster.
For whom, and what for? Who cares? 🙄
A law without a sanction is a suggestion, not a law. We are now learning the consequences of that. Fast and hard.
I see cries for tempering STEM with Arts: to make it STEAM.
I cry foul, or is it fool?
STEM+Art without the breadth of the social sciences has only ever led to stylish catastrophe: Nazism, Fascism, and their ilk.
Understand power, motivation, and incentives, or perish a beautiful mechanical death.
