My only MAHA adjacent belief is that microwaves are a Mephistophelean technology that should in most cases be avoided
Plowing through this constitutional precedent, whereby he's claimed the sovereign right to make war, along with his apparently successful seizure of much of the power of the purse, completes a coup making Trump a kind of dictatorial leader the US has never had before.
My union @uam-umd.bsky.social did such a good job beating our bosses in the statehouse this year that we figured we'd go ahead and beat the White House too.
With allies from across higher ed and the good people at @democracyforward.org we're suing to stop the latest illegal anti-DEI order.
This looks like it’s from the last half hour of an @oncinema.bsky.social Oscar special
@moiraweigel.bsky.social wrote one of the most enlightening (and earliest) pieces on Alex Karp's fashy PhD. She now has written this luminous piece that gives a persuasive materialist account of the right wing assault on theory. Truly brilliant stuff.

Ja irgendwie - man tut das Fischfilet in Mehl und Ei rein und dann wendet es in geriebener Süßkartoffel und frittiert das ganze in Pflanzenöl
It is. I grew up going there. Located in a very innocuous strip mall. Highly recommend it next time you’re in the area.
Sweet potato-encrusted corvina on top of mixed greens, vegetables and herbs in a lime vinaigrette. Inspired by a similar dish at Food Shack in Jupiter, FL.

If you’re a fellow academic, a good reminder to join AAUP, UCW or whatever union is available to you to advocate for your rights.
Something that's unclear to me but maybe obvious to economists: When people say they feel "poorer", how much is "poor" serving as a metaphorical stand-in for feeling more anxious and more uncertain about the future, etc., which wealth ordinarily shields one from (to some degree)?

Glad to see more people rethinking literary form.

First Plato—now Dr. Peterson—out the door at Texas A&M!
Who’s next?
Here is Dr. Peterson’s letter of resignation, which he just shared with the faculty.
Very glad he waited to step down until after the gubernatorial election, but I have a feeling this is still going to be a shit show
The obvious answer here is that the student protest movement was broadly smeared as anti-semitic and aligned with terrorists, and a variety of institutions from government, media and the universities acted as if that smear was true, threatening, suspending, expelling and even deporting students.
Libertarians dreamed of the zone as a way to escape the state but it became the favored tool of state capitalism; now the same has happened with crypto.
A striking contrast to the increasing numbers of Trump administration officials who live in "Green Zone"-style military housing to sequester themselves from the (regrettably) imaginary pitchfork-wielding rabble.
Every one of these propaganda centers struggles in the so-called marketplace of ideas. No surprise. They're drafting off the status of people they hate, subsidizing substandard intellectuals, and making slush funds for potato-faced jetski dealer legislators. Every normal person smells a fake.
