Potato!!!
EeroQ device to trap and control electrons
New from EeroQ in Physical Review X: controlling and sensing of single electrons above superfluid helium at temperatures above 1 K! An important step on the long journey to aid efforts to develop large-scale quantum processors.

Working on LSD was fun! - Our paper on Localized statistics decoding (LSD) for qLDPC codes is now in print.
LSD is a highly parallelizable, reliability-guided inversion decoder that exploits the clustering of errors. Think of it as a parallel version of OSD.

How would you respond if your lab got destroyed by a missile?
"I wish that a day will come very, very soon in which Iranian scientists and Israeli scientists will collaborate and work together and perform scientific research for the future of mankind."

I remember getting a $300k grant 10 years ago to perform non-abelian braiding in 2 years
It is funny, but it is also sad. "The people" want miracles from science, right now, and for free. If one is achieved, they move on immediately and just want more, different, fresh like distracted children.
On Friday I made my first-ever calls to congress to oppose funding cuts to NSF. It was super easy — it took just a couple minutes, and I read off a script provided by Save NSF (www.savensf.com). Afterwards, I felt good. The pervasive sense of powerlessness was held at bay, at least temporarily.(1/8)
that’s perfect! thank you!
Can you join if you work in QC hardware and want to follow the latest developments? Or is it only for folks working on QEC.
We’d love to find more #QEC experts here on BlueSky and have created this starter pack to help connect the error correction community.
It’s just a start – if you’re working QEC, please follow this account and message us. We’ll happily add you to the pack!

Exclusive: National Science Foundation staff were told today that the agency’s 37 divisions—across all eight directorates—are being abolished and the number of programs within those divisions will be drastically reduced.
Post from PO about NSF
An NSF PO on its upcoming 75th anniversary: "In nature, systems evolve towards minimum of energy, following the laws of physics. In the US today things evolve to a location of maximum pain, violating the laws of the land." www.linkedin.com/posts/tomasz...
Great explanation of the basics of quantum computing and Grover's algorithm by 3Blue1Brown. He also addresses the common misconception of "exponential parallelism".

Genuinely unclear, but many NSF staff have wondered if it is designed to impound funds and reduce the budget this FY, in preparation for extremely large cuts next year. If you pause funding long enough, you just won't be able to get it all out the door. Unused money helps justify a larger cut.
BREAKING: NSF has frozen all grant funding, as of yesterday. It's unclear when they will resume funding awards, or why the pause has been put in place. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Excited to be in illustrious company in this @techcrunch.com piece on leading contenders in QC chip race!

My latest pod is out! Please subscribe if you’re into pop culture nonsense. This week it’s all Sinners. And Labubu of course.

Congrats! Loved this paper (what I understood of it) when I first saw the preprint!
Glad to see our work on potential applications of quantum computing to biomarker discovery out in the @cellpress.bsky.social Patterns journal :)

Great article in Quantum Computing Report on our latest peer reviewed advance:

I still don’t understand why they’d fly so far to divert, under the assumption they were in imminent danger
Super happy to see our work on the LDPC cat architecture published! What's not to love about cat qubit and LDPC codes?
Great collaboration with @diego-ruiz.bsky.social @christophe.vuillot.info Jérémie Guillaud and Mazyar Mirrahimi

An international flight attendant couldn’t bear to pour out the hardly drank bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape… so she gave it to me to put in my bag
what was the final moment you realized you had to leave twitter?
(even if you occasionally relapse)
OK figured it out. Sent you a DM as well.
trying to make lists on bluesky
I'm working on slowly building a list of the NYC quantum community (I travel between here and Chicago) to keep track of the growing ecosystem. Who should I add? Reply or DM!
