⚡️ Energy bills remain a concern in Rushcliffe, with tensions in the Middle East pushing prices up. New measures back clean energy, with up to £9,000 for heating upgrades, more solar and faster rollout. It's a welcome step towards lower bills and energy security for Rushcliffe.

In the UK, sudden cardiac deaths in young people may be underreported and current guidelines lack consistency. We need a national strategy that reflects the true scale and improves prevention and care.
🚨The government has recently announced that over 3,000 additional police officers and PCSOs are now in neighbourhood roles, delivered two months ahead of schedule.
This means more officers back on the beat, helping tackle the issues I know matter locally.

♀️ Women across Rushcliffe deserve a health system that listens, acts on their experiences, and delivers faster, fairer care. The renewed Women’s Health Strategy must tackle long-standing issues like delayed diagnoses for endometriosis and fibroids, and inconsistent pain relief.

👏🏻 🩺 Great news for Radcliffe-on-Trent. A planning application has been submitted to expand the Health Centre. The plans include 7 new consulting rooms, a new extension, and improved layout and facilities for patients and staff.

🩺 Really welcome news for Rushcliffe. Expanding urgent care at Queen’s Medical Centre means more people treated quickly, easing pressure on A&E and helping tackle corridor care. This is part of wider work to improve urgent and emergency care across the NHS and build a service fit for the future.

📮 Royal Mail survey update!
Earlier this year, I ran two surveys to understand the scale of delivery issues across Rushcliffe and to track whether things improved after raising concerns with Royal Mail.
There has been some progress, but more work is needed… Here are the latest survey's results:
♻️ Clearer, simpler recycling is finally on the way for Rushcliffe.
The government’s Simpler Recycling reforms will create a more consistent approach across the country, with no more than four containers and clearer guidance on what can be recycled.
Several constituents have been in touch about the potential of use of the death penalty in Israel.
Like the Foreign Ministers who issued this statement, I urge decision-makers to abandon these plans. Capital punishment doesn't have a place in the twenty-first century.
📚✨ Great news for education in Rushcliffe. Nottingham College will receive nearly £4 million as part of the government’s investment to upgrade colleges, improving facilities and creating better spaces for students to learn, succeed and build their future.
❗️🩺 Resident doctors will strike 7am 7–13 April. NHS services will be under pressure but emergency care remains prioritised. Please attend appointments unless told otherwise, use 111 or GP/pharmacy, self-care for minor illness, and only use A&E for emergencies.

💧🌳 Update on protecting our environment and water quality. Over 1,800 inspections of Severn Trent sites this year, up 118 percent. Most met standards, but 530 needed improvements. £22.1bn secured for upgrades.

🎉 Some positive news for Rushcliffe!
A £165m fund will help unlock stalled housing by improving key infrastructure. Locally, the A46 at Widmerpool will be resurfaced and rebuilt, with further upgrades to the A46 Newark bypass and A52 junctions, supporting new homes, jobs and better roads.
🇺🇦The Ukraine Permission Extension scheme remains a very important issue for those rebuilding their lives in the UK. Some progress has been made, but many still need clarity on what comes next. I will continue pushing for certainty and support.

📚 Today, I welcomed pupils from St Peter’s C of E School to parliament and Downing Street. After months of disruption due to safety issues forcing them out of their building, they delivered a powerful letter to the Prime Minister. I’ll keep pushing for them and hope for good news soon.
